Ayrton looking forward to home race

Round 4 of this year’s World Superbike Championship takes place at the historic Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola, Italy, this coming Sunday. The anti-clockwise circuit is located near the centre of Imola and features many changes of elevation in its 4.936 kilometres. It is a technically demanding circuit and one loved by riders and fans alike. This year promises to be more exciting than usual, as a brand new Italian manufacturer will be taking part – Bimota – with the BB3 - ridden by local hero Ayrton Badovini and Briton Christian Iddon.

Ayrton Badovini

“I am really happy to race in Imola because it is my home track – I only live five kilometres from it! I like all Italian rounds of the championship but this year is going to be extra special because we are racing a new Italian bike and I think many people will come to see how it performs this weekend. All the extra fans are going to give me more power and I think I can make some good results on Sunday.

It is not an easy track, because there are a lot of changes of elevation, but it is one of my favourite tracks in the championship. I would like to do well in qualifying, start both races well and give all the fans something to shout about at the end.”

Christian Iddon

“I like Imola because I find it similar to many British tracks – especially the park-like setting. There’s lots of greenery around and it is such a lovely track to ride. Technically it is not easy because there are many changes of elevation and some blind corners, so you have to know your way round it pretty well.

Last year was my first time at the track and I (and four other riders) crashed on somebody else’s oil, so it was not a great raceday for me. So, this year, I am hoping to for a lot more. I think the BB3 should go pretty well round Imola and I’m looking forward to two great races.”
