Team Bimota Alstare looking forward to 'the cathedral'

Round three of this year’s World Superbike takes place this coming weekend at the track known as ‘The Cathedral’ of motorsport - Assen. The 4.542 kilometre circuit features eleven right-hand corners and six left-handers and has long been a favourite of riders and fans. Despite a change in the circuit’s layout in 2006, the track is considered one of the highlights of the World Superbike calendar.

Ayrton Badovini
“ I like Assen though, for me, the old track was better. I have got used to the new layout now and the track still flows pretty well. At Aragon we found out a lot more about the BB3 and so we are all really looking forward to Assen. Each time I go out on the bike, our team learns more and more.  Our first job is to find a good setting for our new bike and, if we can do that, I am confident we can get good results.”

Christian Iddon
“Assen is one of my favourite tracks and and although the first section is not so good, the rest of the track really is. I believe that I still hold the British Supersport lap record there and although I have never ridden a Superbike round Assen, I am really looking forward to it. Assen is not a horsepower track - like the last round - and because it flows quite well I think that the EVO bikes will be closer to the Superbikes.”

Francis Batta (Team Manager)
“I think our baptism in Aragon went very well and we were all very satisfied with what we achieved. Now that our debut is over, we are looking forward to Assen and carrying on the good work. As Assen is not all about horsepower, it will be interesting to see the lap times of our BB3 and all the other EVO bikes compared to the Superbikes. First though, the riders need to find good bike set-ups and then attack the track. Hopefully, we will continue our great progress and end with the best performance in the EVO class.”
