A difficult end to the season for Team SBK Ducati Alstare today at Jerez
Jerez de la Frontera (Spain), Sunday 20 October 2013: an unlucky day for Team SBK Ducati Alstare, taking part in today’s final races of the 2013 World Superbike championship at the Jerez circuit in Spain. Xavi Forés closed his first Superbike race on board the Panigale in ninth position while Ayrton Badovini took a thirteenth place finish. Unfortunately neither Ducati Alstare rider was able to complete more than two laps of the second race.
Race 1 – starting from eighth on the grid, Forés made a good start to the 21-lap race on board his Panigale and by the mid-race point he was in tenth position. Having passed Aitchison, and finding a good rhythm especially in the final stages of the race, he pushed to chase Camier, closing the gap but not quite able to reach the English rider immediately ahead of him. Xavi therefore closed the race in final ninth place. Badovini, starting from thirteenth, was up to eleventh after lap one. By mid-race he was in twelfth place but, losing a little of his pace in the final stages due to some grip issues, he crossed the line in final thirteenth position.
Race 2 – Forés made another good start but his race came to an almost immediate end when another rider made contact through the first corner, pushing him off track and into the gravel. Unfortunately, he was unable to return to the track, though luckily the Spaniard was uninjured in the fall. Badovini was equally unlucky in today’s second race. During the course of lap one he realised that he had a traction issue, and due to a serious lack of grip, and, having risked crashing more than once, he decided to return to the garage to see what was wrong. He was unfortunately unable to return to the race.
Ayrton Badovini: “All weekend we have been suffering from a lack of grip. In the first race we did all we could but we had some problems. So we made changes for the second but I could tell straight away that something was wrong and having risked crashing a couple of times, I decided it was best to come back to the garage and check nothing was really wrong. A pity because without this problem we could have closed the season with a good result.”
Xavi Forés: “The first race wasn’t easy but it didn’t go too badly. A lack of confidence stopped me pushing to reach the group in front at the start but once I got past Aitchison, I was able to push harder in the latter stages, I had a better feeling with the bike but I needed a couple of extra laps to be able to reach those I front. The second turned out to be a very short race for me, a real pity. I didn’t get off to a bad start but at the first corner I felt someone hit the bike and I was down, there was nothing I could do. Anyway, all things considered, it’s been a positive weekend for me, in that we improved with each exit we made. I thank everyone, Ducati and Team Ducati Alstare, for the opportunity they’ve given me this weekend and now I’ll get back to concentrating on the Spanish championship, where we still have two events to run.”

Un finale di stagione difficile per il Team SBK Ducati Alstare quello di oggi a Jerez
Jerez de la Frontera (Spagna), domenica 20 ottobre 2013: un ultima gara difficile per il Team SBK Ducati Alstare alla chiusura del Mondiale Superbike 2013, disputatosi oggi sul circuito di Jerez. Nella prima manche Forés ha concluso nono con Badovini tredicesimo, mentre gara 2 si è conclusa anticipatamente per entrambi i piloti.
Gara 1 – partendo dall’ottavo piazzamento in griglia, Forés ha cominciato molto bene la sua prima gara con la Panigale, trovandosi nono dopo il primo giro. A metà gara è riuscito a superare Aitchison e poi, avendo trovato un buon ritmo soprattutto nella fase finale della gara, ha spinto forte per raggiungere Camier. Fores è riuscito a colmare il gap, ma purtroppo non ha fatto in tempo a superare il pilota inglese, chiudendo la prima manche in nona posizione. Badovini, partito tredicesimo, era undicesimo alla fine del primo giro. A metà gara transitava in 12ma posizione, perdendo purtroppo terreno negli ultimi giri, a causa della mancanza di grip. Ayrton ha tagliato il traguardo in tredicesima posizione.
Gara 2 – Anche questa volta Forés è partito bene, ma la sua gara è stata fermata subito, quando Aitchison lo ha urtato facendolo cadere. Purtroppo non ha potuto riprendere e la sua gara è finita li. La sfortuna ha colpito anche Badovini. Nel corso del primo giro Ayrton si è reso conto di avere un problema anomalo di trazione, la mancanza di grip era sostanziale e dopo un paio di perdite repentine di grip, il pilota ha deciso di rientrare al suo box per verificare che tutto funzionasse correttamente, terminando in anticipo la sua gara.
Ayrton Badovini: “In tutto il weekend abbiamo sempre sofferto un po’ per la mancanza di grip. Nella prima manche abbiamo fatto tutto quello si poteva. Nella seconda, ma ho capito subito che c’era qualcosa che non andava. Ho preso due bei rischi ed ho preferito fermarmi per verificare che non fosse successo nulla di anomalo. Peccato perché senza questo problema avremmo potuto ottenere un buon risultato.”
Xavi Forés: “La prima manche non è stata facile, ma non è andata male. All’inizio mi mancava un po’ di fiducia per gareggiare col gruppo davanti. Ho faticato a raggiungere Aitchison, ma poi nell’ultima fase ho girato molto meglio. Avevo un buon feeling con la moto, ma mi sono mancati un paio di giri per raggiungere i piloti che mi precedevano. La seconda gara è stata cortissima, un vero peccato. Sono partito un po’ peggio rispetto alla prima manche e alla prima curva ho sentito un colpo e mi sono ritrovato per terra. Niente da fare. Comunque, tutto sommato, è stato un’esperienza positiva, e abbiamo migliorato ogni volta che siamo scesi in pista. Ringrazio tutti, la Ducati e il Team SBK Ducati Alstare, per avermi dato l’opportunità di correre questo weekend e adesso torno a concentrarmi sul campionato spagnolo, dove mancano ancora due round.”

Un final de temporada difícil para el Team SBK Ducati Alstare hoy en Jerez
Jerez de la Frontera (España), domingo 20 de octubre 2013: difícil última carrera para Team SBK Ducati Alstare en la clausura del mundial Superbike 2013, disputada hoy en el circuito de Jerez. En la primera carrera Forés ha acabado noveno con Badovini décimo tercero, mientras que la segunda carrera ha acabado anticipadamente para ambos pilotos.
Carrera 1 – saliendo de la octava posición de la parrilla Forés ha empezado muy bien su primera carrera con la Panigale, encontrándose noveno tras la primera vuelta. A mitad de carrera ha conseguido superar a Aitchison y después, habiendo encontrado un buen ritmo sobre todo en la fase final, ha empujado fuerte hasta llegar a Camier. Ha conseguido recortar su diferencia, pero no ha tenido tiempo de superar al piloto inglés, acabando la primera carrera en la novena posición. Badovini ha salido en la décimo tercera posición y ha ganado dos puestos tras la primera vuelta. A media carrera estaba sobre la décimo segunda posición, perdiendo terreno en las últimas vueltas a causa de la falta de grip. Ayrton ha cruzado la meta en la décimo tercera posición.
Carrera 2 – También en esta ocasión Forés ha salido bien, pero su carrera se ha acabado rápido cuando Aitchison le ha golpeado haciéndole caer. Desgraciadamente su carrera se ha terminado. Mala suerte también para Badovini. Durante la primera vuelta Ayrton se ha dado cuenta de que tenía un anómalo problema de tracción, la falta de grip era sustancial y después de perder varias veces la rueda trasera de forma repentina, el piloto ha decidido entrar en el su box para verificar que todo funcionaba correctamente, terminando su carrera de forma anticipada.
Ayrton Badovini: “Hemos sufrido falta de grip durante todo el fin de semana. En la primera manga hemos hecho todo lo que podíamos. En la segunda, me he dado cuenta de que había algo que no funcionaba, he tenido dos sustos y he preferido entrar en el box para verificar que sucedía de anómalo. Lástima porque sin este problema podría haber obtenido un buen resultado”.
Xavi Fores: “La primera manga no ha estado fácil, pero no ha ido mal. Al inicio me faltaba un poco de confianza para estar con el grupo de delante. Me ha costado alcanzar a Aitchison, pero luego en la última fase he girado mucho mejor. Tenía un buen feeling con la moto pero me han faltado algunas vueltas para alcanzar a los pilotos que me precedían. La segunda carrera ha sido muy corta, una verdadera lástima. He salido un poco peor respecto a la primera manga y en la primera curva he notado un golpe y me he encontrado en el suelo. Nada que hacer. Pero en resumen ha sido una buena experiencia y hemos mejorado cada vez que hemos salido a la pista. Agradezco a todos, Ducati y el Team Alstare, por haberme dado la oportunidad de correr este fin de semana y ahora vuelvo a concentrarme en el campeonato español, donde todavía faltan dos pruebas”.

Problematisches Saisonende für das Team SBK Ducati Alstare in Jerez
Jerez de la Frontera/E, Sonntag, 20. Oktober 2013 – Es war heute ein unglücklicher Tag, an dem das Team SBK Ducati Alstare an den beiden abschließenden Rennen der Superbike-Weltmeisterschaft 2013 auf der spanischen Rennstrecke Jerez teilgenommen hat. Xavi Forés beendete sein allererstes Rennen auf der Ducati Panigale als Neunter, Ayrton Badovini wurde im ersten Lauf 13. Im zweiten Durchgang kam keiner der beiden Ducati-Alstare-Fahrer mehr als zwei Runden weit.
Rennen 1: Forés gelang von der achten Position ein guter Start in das 21-Runden-Rennen, zur Mitte des Laufs lag er auf Rang zehn. Nachdem er Mark Aitchison überholt hatte, fand er insbesondere für den letzten Teil des Wettbewerbs einen so guten Rhythmus, dass er Jagd auf Leon Camier machen konnte. Es gelang ihm zwar, die Lücke zu dem vor ihm fahrenden Engländer zu schließen, für einen Angriff reichte es jedoch nicht, sodass Forés schließlich als Neunter ins Ziel fuhr. Badovini war als 13. gestartet und hatte sich bereits nach einer Runde auf Rang elf vorgearbeitet. Zur Rennmitte war Badovini Zwölfter, verlor zum Rennende hin jedoch wegen einiger Grip-Probleme etwas an Geschwindigkeit und wurde 13.
Rennen 2: Auch im zweiten Rennen startete Forés gut, doch seine Bemühungen wurden schnell beendet, als ihn ein anderer Fahrer in der ersten Kurve berührte und ihn von der Strecke ins Kiesbett abdrängte. Der Spanier konnte sein Rennen nicht wieder aufnehmen, blieb aber bei dem Sturz glücklicherweise unverletzt. Badovini hatte in diesem Durchgang ebenfalls Pech. Bereits in der ersten Runde stellte er ein Traktionsproblem fest und hatte keinen Grip mehr. Da er mehrfach beinahe gestürzt wäre, entschied sich Badovini, an die Box zurückzufahren und sein Motorrad untersuchen zu lassen. Er konnte jedoch nicht mehr ins Rennen zurückkehren.
Ayrton Badovini:
„Wir hatten das ganze Wochenende mit zu wenig Grip zu kämpfen. Im ersten Rennen haben wir alles versucht, es gab jedoch Probleme. Deshalb wurden für das zweite Rennen das Set-up verändert, aber ich konnte sofort erkennen, dass irgendetwas faul war. Weil ich einige Male beinahe gestürzt wäre, dachte ich, es wäre das Beste, an die Box zu fahren und nachsehen zu lassen. Wir konnten allerdings keinen wirklichen Fehler finden. Schade, ohne das Problem hätte ich die Saison sicher mit einem guten Resultat beenden können.“
Xavi Forés:
„Das erste Rennen war nicht einfach, lief dann aber doch nicht zu schlecht. Mir fehlte etwas Vertrauen, um mich nach dem Start an die Gruppe vor mir heran zu kämpfen. Als ich Aitchison überholt hatte, konnte ich für den Rest des Rennens mehr Druck machen. Ich hatte ein besseres Gefühl für das Motorrad, brauchte jedoch einige Runden, um an die Konkurrenten vor mir heranzufahren. Der zweite Lauf sollte sehr kurz für mich werden, wie sich herausstellte, wirklich schade. Der Start war in Ordnung, aber in der ersten Kurve spürte ich einen Schlag am Motorrad und lag gleich danach auf dem Boden – da war nichts zu machen. Wenn ich alle Ereignisse zusammennehme, war es ein gutes Wochenende für mich. Wir haben uns jedes Mal verbessert, wenn ich auf die Strecke gefahren bin. Vielen Dank an alle bei Ducati und dem Team Alstare dafür, dass ich diese Gelegenheit bekommen habe. Jetzt werde ich mich wieder auf die Spanische Meisterschaft konzentrieren, wo wir noch zwei Rennen zu fahren haben.“
