Jerez (Spain), Saturday 19 October 2013: the fourteenth and final Superpole of the 2013 season took place this afternoon at Jerez and team SBK Ducati Alstare riders Xavi Fores and Ayrton Badovini qualified in eighth and thirteenth position respectively for tomorrow’s races.

 

During second qualifying, that took place in dry conditions (air temperature 21°C, track 21°C), both Ayrton and Xavi were able to improve on yesterday afternoon’s performance. The Spanish rider recorded a best time of 1’42.6, qualifying for the Superpole in eleventh place, while Ayrton dropped his best time set yesterday by seven tenths of a second, to record the same best time as his teammate, placing twelfth as a result.

 

Superpole 1 – riders made the most of dry and sunny conditions for the final Superpole of the season (air temperature 25°C, track 35°C). In this first phase, both Ayrton and Xavi made a first exit on race rubber and then another with the first of two available qualifying tyres. Xavi was able to record a very fast time (1’42.0) thanks to which he positioned ninth, progressing easily to the second phase. Unfortunately Ayrton was meanwhile unable to make the most of the qualifier and closed in thirteenth position. Having failed to progress to stage two, the Italian rider will start tomorrow’s races from the fifth row.

 

Superpole 2 – In the second mini-session and with the second qualifying tyre, Xavi further improved on the already impressive time he set in phase one (1’41.8), concluding this phase in eighth position and proceeding to the third and final phase as a result.

 

Superpole 3 – with only a race tyre remaining, Fores pushed right to the end to earn final eighth position thanks to a best time of 1’42.2. The Ducati Alstare flagbearer will therefore start from the third row of the grid for tomorrow’s races, a positive result for the Spaniard in his first ever Superpole.

 

Ayrton Badovini: “It’s not the result we wanted of course. I hoped that in this final Superpole of the season we could do more. I just couldn’t make the most of the qualifying tyre and so we were out after the first stage. We’ll have to see what we can do, and change, for tomorrow’s races but it won’t be easy from the fifth row of the grid.”

 

Xavi Fores: “I’m really pleased because to take part in all three phases of the Superpole is a really positive result. It was my first experience of Superpole and I didn’t expect to get as far as the final phase to be honest. Step by step we’re improving and I’m feeling more and more at ease on the bike. With the qualifying tyre it was tricky because I’ve not used it before and there were definitely points where, with more experience, I could have opened the throttle a lot sooner. There’s still room for improvement and that’s a good thing. We’ll keep working and gradually we’ll get there. Our pace is slightly slower than the front five or six guys but I think that if I make a strong start tomorrow I’ll be able to stick with the second group. Anyway we’ll see, but I’m feeling confident.”

Fores e il Team SBK Ducati Alstare centrano la fase tre della Superpole a Jerez

 

Jerez (Spagna), sabato 19 ottobre 2013: nella quattordicesima e ultima Superpole della stagione 2013, i portacolori del team SBK Ducati Alstare, Xavi Fores e Ayrton Badovini, si sono qualificati rispettivamente  in ottava e tredicesima posizione per le gare di domani.

 

Durante la seconda sessione di qualifiche, che si sono svolte questa mattina in condizioni di pista asciutta (temperatura dell’aria 21°C, dell’asfalto 21°C), Ayrton e Xavi hanno decisamente migliorato i loro tempi di ieri. Il pilota spagnolo ha fatto registrare un miglior crono di 1’42.6, qualificandosi per la Superpole con l’undicesimo tempo assoluto delle qualifiche, mentre Ayrton ha abbassato di sette decimi il suo tempo di ieri, finendo con lo stesso tempo del suo compagno di squadra, e posizionandosi al dodicesimo posto.

 

Superpole 1 – i piloti hanno sfruttato le condizioni calde (temperatura dell’aria 25°C, dell’asfalto 35°C) nell’ultima Superpole della stagione. Nella prima fase, sia Ayrton che Xavi sono usciti prima con una gomma da gara, poi con la prima delle due gomme da qualifica. Xavi è riuscito a far registrare un tempo molto veloce (1’42.0) grazie a quale ha guadagnato il nono tempo, qualificandosi tranquillamente per la  seconda fase. Purtroppo Ayrton non ha potuto spingere come voleva con la gomma da qualifica e ha chiuso tredicesimo. Fuori della seconda fase, Badovini si schiererà dalla quinta fila nelle due gare di domani.

 

Superpole 2 – Nella seconda fase della Superpole, una volta montata la seconda gomma da qualifica, Xavi ha potuto migliore ulteriormente il suo tempo della prima fase (1’41.8), concludendo la sessione in ottava posizione e procedendo quindi alla terza ed ultima fase.

 

Superpole 3 – Con l’unica gomma da tempo rimasta a sua disposizione, Fores ha spinto fino al termine, assicurandosi l’ottava posizione finale, grazie ad un tempo veloce di 1’42.2. Il portacolori Ducati Alstare partirà quindi dalla terza fila della griglia delle gare di domani. Un risultato molto positivo per il pilota spagnolo alla sua prima Superpole in assoluto.

 

Ayrton Badovini: “Questo non è ovviamente il risultato che volevamo ottenere. Speravo di fare qualcosa di più nell’ultima Superpole della stagione. Non sono riuscito a sfruttare la gomma da qualifica e quindi sono stato escluso dalla fase due. Vediamo cosa riusciremo a fare domani, ma mi aspettano certamente due gare difficili, visto che prenderò il via dalla quinta fila”.

 

Xavi Fores: “Sono molto contento perché riuscire a partecipare a tutte e tre le fasi della Superpole mi fa molto piacere. E’ la prima volta che ho partecipato ad una Superpole e sinceramente non mi aspettavo di poter arrivare sino all’ultima fase. Passo dopo passo stiamo migliorando la moto e io mi sento sempre più a mio agio in sella. Con la gomma da qualifica facevo un po’ fatica, visto che non la conosco e c’erano dei punti nei quali avrei potuto anche aprire il gas molto prima. C’è ancora del margine per migliorare e questa è una cosa positiva. Continuiamo a lavorare e vedrete che arriveremo. Il passo è leggermente più lento rispetto a quello dei primi cinque o sei, ma secondo me se riesco a fare una buona partenza, forse domani riuscirò a stare nel secondo gruppo. Vedremo cosa succederà ma io sono molto fiducioso.”

Forés y el Team SBK Ducati Alstare alcanzan la tercera ronda de la Superpole a Jerez

 

Jerez (España), sábado 19 de octubre 2013: en la décimo cuarta y última Superpole de la temporada 2013 , los representantes del team SBK Ducati Alstare, Xavi Forés y Ayrton Badovini se han clasificado en la octava y décimo tercera posición respectivamente para las carreras de mañana.

 

Durante la segunda sesión clasificatoria, que se ha desarrollado esta mañana con la pista seca (21º temperatura ambiente, 21º el asfalto), Ayrton y Xavi han mejorado sus registros de ayer. El piloto español ha registrado un mejor tiempo de 1'42.6 clasificándose para la Superpole con el décimo primer mejor tiempo, mientras que Ayrton ha bajado siete décimas su tiempo de ayer, acabando con el mismo crono que su compañero de equipo, posicionándose con el décimo primer tiempo absoluto de la clasificación,

 

Superpole 1. Los pilotos han aprovechado las buenas condiciones (25º temperatura ambiente y 35º en el asfalto), en la última Superpole de la temporada. En la primera fase tanto Ayrton como Xavi ha salido primero con un neumático de carrera y luego con el primero de los neumáticos de clasificación. Xavi ha conseguido marcar un tiempo muy rápido (1.42.0) gracias al cual ha sido noveno clasificándose tranquilamente para la segunda fase. Ayrton no ha podido tirar como quería con el neumático de clasificación y ha acabado décimo tercero. Fuera de la segunda fase, Badovini saldrá desde la quinta fila en las carreras de mañana.

 

Superpole 2. En la segunda fase de la Superpole, una vez montado el neumático de clasificación, Xavi ha conseguido mejorar su tiempo de la primera fase (1'48.8), concluyendo la sesión en la octava posición y pasando a la tercera y última serie.

 

Superpole 3. Forés ha empujado fuerte para asegurarse la octava posición, gracias a una vuelta rápida de 1'42.2. Así que el representante del Team Ducati Alstare saldrá desde la tercera fila de la parrilla de salida de mañana. Un resultado muy positivo para el piloto español en su primera experiencia en una Superpole.

 

Ayrton Badovini: “Obviamente no era este el resultado que queríamos conseguir. Esperábamos hacer algo más en la última Superpole de la temporada. No he conseguido aprovechar la goma de clasificación y por tanto he quedado fuera en la segunda fase. Veremos que podemos hacer mañana, pero ciertamente esperamos dos careras difíciles teniendo en cuenta que saldremos desde la quinta fila”

 

Xavi Forés: “Estoy muy contento porque he conseguido participar en todas las fases de la Superpole y esto me da una gran satisfacción. Era la primera vez que participaba en una Superpole y sinceramente no me esperaba poder llegar a la última fase. Paso a paso estamos mejorando la moto y cada vez me encuentro más cómodo. Con el neumático de clasificación he sufrido un poco porque no lo conozco y he visto puntos donde podía abrir gas mucho antes.  Todavía tengo margen de mejora y esto es algo muy positivo. Continuamos trabajando y veremos hasta donde llegamos. Mi ritmo es ligeramente más lento al de lo primeros cinco o seis, pero creo que si consigo hacer una buena salida, quizá mañana puedo estar en el segundo grupo. Veremos que sucede pero estoy muy esperanzado”.
