A positive sixth place finish for Pirro and Team SBK Ducati Alstare today at Magny-Cours

Nevers (France), Sunday 6 October 2013: another day of ups and downs for team SBK Ducati Alstare today at the Magny-Cours circuit in France. In the day’s two Superbike races, which took place on a mainly dry track, Ayrton Badovini closed in ninth and tenth position while substitute rider Michele Pirro was sixth to cross the line in race one, before unfortunately suffering a crash in race two.

Race 1 – after a warm-up that took place early this morning on a wet track and in low temperatures, the Ducati Alstare riders returned to the track, now dry, for race 1 which got underway at midday. Starting from sixth position on the grid, Ayrton was lying eighth by the end of lap one with Michele behind him in twelfth position. Badovini lost a couple of positions in the initial stages but then slowly made up the lost ground, battling first with team-mate Pirro and then with Haslam and Fabrizio in the second half of the race. Fighting the two Honda riders right to the line, Ducati Alstare man Ayrton crossed the line in final ninth position in this opening race, cut to 18 laps after Aitchison suffered a crash. Michele, tenth on the grid after suffering an accident in yesterday’s Superpole session, made a strong recovery in the opening stages and was lying ninth by lap three. With determination and some hard braking, he slowly worked his way up the field, battling with and passing several riders during the 18-lap race. Struggling due to back pain resulting from yesterday’s crash, Pirro crossed the line in final sixth position, an encouraging result at the end of his first ever Superbike race.

Race 2 – the second race got underway in dry conditions. Lapping in ninth (Ayrton) and fourteenth place (Michele) at the end of the opening lap, unfortunately the riders lost some ground in the initial stages. During the course of the third lap, Pirro unfortunately crashed when he lost the front of his bike. Unfortunately his first Superbike weekend ended there. Badovini maintained the tenth position for the majority of the race. Unable to push as hard as he would have liked, he closed the second race in that same position.

Ayrton Badovini: “In the second race I was having trouble physically, the fact that I still cannot train as I would like conditions my performance in the races. The first I was able to manage a little better but I wasn’t able to keep up the pace in the second. I hoped to do better, also because my grid position was not bad. Now we will concentrate on the last round in Jerez – I would like to close the season with a good result.”

Michele Pirro: “We were unlucky today and my physical condition after yesterday’s crash surely didn’t help. After race one my back was very painful and I had to take painkillers for the second, that then finished badly. We needed a practice session in dry conditions, in order to better prepare for today’s dry races. Anyway, considering it was all new for me this weekend, and considering the difficult weather conditions, I can say that I’ve learned a lot, even if I hoped to do better in the races. I hope to have another opportunity to race, because with more time and experience I think I can do better.”

Un buon sesto posto per Pirro e per il Team SBK Ducati Alstare oggi a Magny-Cours

Nevers (Francia), domenica 6 ottobre 2013: Nelle due gare Superbike disputate oggi, su di un tracciato asciutto, a Magny-Cours in Francia, il Team SBK Ducati Alstare ha ottenuto dei risultati altalenanti; Ayrton Badovini ha tagliato il traguardo in nona e decima posizione, mentre Michele Pirro, al suo debutto in Superbike, ha concluso sesto nella prima manche ed è stato purtroppo vittima di una caduta nella seconda.

Gara 1 – dopo un warm-up che si è svolto su pista bagnata e con temperature basse, i portacolori Ducati Alstare sono scesi in pista, che nel frattempo si era asciugata, per la prima gara a mezzogiorno. Partendo dalla sesta posizione, Ayrton era ottavo dopo il primo giro con Michele dodicesimo. Badovini ha perso un paio di posizioni nella prima fase, ma poi gradualmente ha fatto dei progressi, lottando prima con il suo compagno di squadra Pirro e poi con Haslam nella seconda metà della gara. Battagliando con i due piloti Honda fino al traguardo, il pilota Ducati Alstare ha chiuso nono in questa prima gara, accorciata a 18 giri dopo la caduta di Aitchison. Michele, decimo in griglia, è partito bene ed era nono dopo i primi giri. Molto efficace nella fase di frenata, Pirro ha migliorato gradualmente la sua posizione, battagliando e superando alcuni piloti durante tutta la manche. Nonostante il dolore alla schiena a causa della caduta di ieri, Pirro ha spinto fino alla fine per passare sotto la bandiera a scacchi in sesta posizione, un risultato incoraggiante nella sua prima gara in Superbike.

Gara 2 – la seconda manche è iniziata in condizioni asciutte. Girando in nona (Ayrton) e 14esima posizione (Michele) alla fine del primo giro, purtroppo i due portacolori Ducati Alstare hanno perso terreno nella fase iniziale. Durante il terzo giro, Pirro è purtroppo scivolato quando gli si è chiuso l’anteriore della moto. Sfortunatamente il suo primo weekend di Superbike è finito li’. Badovini ha tenuto la decima posizione per la maggior parte della gara, non è riuscito a spingere come avrebbe voluto ed ha chiuso la gara nella stessa posizione.

Ayrton Badovini: “Nella seconda manche faticavo fisicamente, il fatto che non posso ancora allenarmi come vorrei mi condiziona in gara. La prima l’ho gestita un po’ meglio ma non sono riuscito a tenere un passo sufficiente nella seconda. Speravo di poter fare qualcosa in più, anche perché la posizione in griglia non era male. Adesso ci concentriamo sull’ultimo evento di Jerez – vorrei chiudere la stagione con un buon risultato.”

Michele Pirro: “Siamo stati sfortunati oggi e le mie condizioni fisiche dopo la caduta di ieri sicuramente non mi hanno aiutato. Dopo la prima manche avevo tanto dolore alla schiena ed ho dovuto prendere degli antidolorifici prima della seconda gara, che poi purtroppo è finita male. Avevamo bisogno di una sessione di prova sull’asciutto, per poterci preparare meglio per le gare di oggi. Comunque, considerando che era tutto nuovo per me in questo weekend e che le condizioni non sono state certo facili, posso dire di aver imparato parecchio, anche se speravo di fare di più oggi in gara. Mi piacerebbe avere un'altra occasione, perché con più tempo e più esperienza penso di poter fare meglio.”

Un buen sexto puesto para Pirro y el Team SBK Ducati Alstare hoy en Magny-Cours

Nevers (Francia), domingo 6 de octubre 2013: En las dos carreras de Superbike disputadas hoy con la pista seca en Magny Cours, Francia, el Team SBK Ducati Alstare ha conseguido alentadores resultados. Ayrton Badovini ha cruzado la meta en novena y décima posición, mientras que Michele Pirro en su debut en Superbike, ha concluido sexto en la primera manga y desgraciadamente ha sido víctima de una caída en la segunda.

Carrera 1. Después de un warm-up que se ha celebrado con la pista mojada y una temperatura baja (15º ambiente, 13º asfalto), los representantes del Ducati Alstare han salido a la pista mientras que esta se secaba para la primera carrera de medio día.

Saliendo desde la sexta posición, Ayrton era octavo después de la primera vuelta con Michele en la décimo segunda posición. Badovini ha perdido algunas posiciones en la primera fase, pero luego progresivamente ha hecho una buena progresión, luchando primero con su compañero de equipo Pirro y después con Haslam en la segunda mitad de una carrera acortada a 18 vueltas. Batallando con el piloto de Honda, el piloto de Ducati Alstare ha acabado noveno en esta primera carrera acortada por a caída de Aitchison. Michele, décimo en la parrilla, ha salido bien y era noveno en las primeras vueltas. Muy eficaz en la frenadas, Pirro ha mejorado gradualmente su posición, batallando y superando algunos pilotos durante toda la carrera. A pesar de su dolor en la espalda a causa de la caída de ayer, Pirro ha empujado fuerte hasta el final para pasar bajo la bandera de cuadros en sexta posición, un resultado esperanzador en su primera carrera en Superbike.

Carrera 2. La segunda carrera ha comenzado con la pista seca. Rodando en la novena posición (Ayrton) y la décimo cuarta posición (Michele) al final de la primera vuelta, desgraciadamente los dos representantes del Ducati Alstare han perdido terreno en la fase inicial. Durante la tercera vuelta, Pirro se ha caído cuando ha perdido el tren delantero de su moto. Desafortunadamente su primer fin de semana en Superbike ha finalizado allí. Badovini ha rodado en la décima posición la mayor parte de la carrera, no ha podido tirar como quería y ha acabado en la misma posición.

Ayrton Badovini: “En la segunda manga me cansaba físicamente y no he podido salir a la pista en buenas condiciones. La primera carrera la he gestionado un poco mejor pero no he conseguido tener un ritmo suficiente en la segunda. Esperaba poder hacer algo. Ahora tengo que concentrarme en el último evento de Jerez, quiero acabar la temporada con un buen resultado”.

Michele Pirro: “Hoy he estado poco afortunado y mis condiciones físicas después de la caída de ayer no me han ayudado. Después de la primera carrera tenía mucho dolor en la espalda y he tenido que medicarme antes de la segunda carrera que luego desgraciadamente ha acabado mal. Necesitaba una sesión de entrenamientos en seco para poder preparar mejor la carrera. Considerando que todo era nuevo para mí en este fin de semana y que las condiciones físicas no han facilitado las cosas, puedo decir que no ha ido del todo mal pese a que esperaba hacerlo mejor en carrera. Me gustaría tener otra oportunidad porque con más tiempo y más experiencia puedo hacerlo mejor”.

Ein ermutigender sechster Platz für Michele Pirro und das Team SBK Ducati Alstare in Magny-Cours

Magny-Cours/F, Sonntag, 6. Oktober 2013 – Einmal mehr erlebte das Team SBK Ducati Alstare im französischen Magny-Cours einen Tag der gemischten Gefühle. Die beiden Superbike-Rennen des Tages, die auf trockener Strecke gefahren wurden, beendete Ayrton Badovini als Neunter und Zehnter. Michele Pirro, Ersatzfahrer für den verletzten Carlos Checa, kam nach dem ersten Rennen sogar als Sechster ins Ziel, stürzte jedoch im zweiten Lauf.

Rennen 1: Nach dem das Warm-up am frühen Morgen auf feuchter Piste und bei kühlen Temperaturen stattgefunden hatte (Lufttemperatur 15°C/Streckentemperatur 13°C), kehrten die Ducati Alstare-Piloten zum Start des ersten Rennens um die Mittagszeit auf eine trockene Strecke zurück. Vom sechsten Startplatz aus ins Rennen gegangen, lag Ayrton Badovini nach der ersten Runde auf der achten Position, Michele Pirro war Zwölfter. In der Anfangsphase des Rennens verlor Badovini einige Positionen, konnte dann jedoch wieder Boden gut machen, wobei er zunächst gegen Teamkamerad Pirro und später, in der zweiten Rennhälfte, gegen Leon Haslam und Michel Fabrizio kämpfen musste. Der Schlagabtausch mit den beiden Honda-Fahrern setzte sich bis zur Zieldurchfahrt fort, die Badovini schließlich als Neunter erreichte. Michele Pirro, der nach einem Sturz in der gestrigen Superpole-Qualifikation nur als Zehnter gestartet war, zeigte eine beeindruckende Aufholjagd und war nach drei Runden Neunter. Mit viel Hingabe und einigen harten Bremsmanövern arbeitete er sich langsam im Feld nach vorne, wobei er während des 18-Runden-Rennens etliche Fahrer überholte. Trotz seiner Rückenschmerzen vom Sturz am Vortag kam Pirro als Sechster ins Ziel – ein ermutigendes Ergebnis in seinem ersten Superbike-Rennen.

Rennen 2: Auch das zweite Rennen wurde bei trockenem Wetter gestartet. Nach der Startrunde lagen Badovini auf Rang neun und Pirro auf der 14. Position, verloren dann aber beide einige Plätze. In der dritten Runde rutschte Pirro das Vorderrad weg, er stürzte und musste sein erstes Superbike-WM-Wochenende an dieser Stelle beenden. Badovini konnte Platz zehn die meiste Zeit des Rennens über behaupten. Weil er aber infolge seiner noch nicht ganz ausgeheilten Verletzungen nicht so angreifen konnte, wie er es wollte, kam er auch auf dieser Position ins Ziel.

Ayrton Badovini:

„Im zweiten Rennen hatte ich physische Probleme. Weil ich wegen der Verletzungen noch nicht so trainieren kann wie ich will, sind meine Möglichkeiten in den Rennen begrenzt. Das erste Rennen habe ich etwas besser hinbekommen, aber im zweiten konnte ich einfach die Renngeschwindigkeit nicht hoch halten. Ich hatte auf ein besseres Ergebnis gehofft, zumal mein Startplatz ja nicht so schlecht war. Jetzt nehme ich Jerez ins Visier – ich will die Saison unbedingt mit einem guten Resultat beenden.“

Michele Pirro:

„Heute haben wir Pech gehabt, und meine gesundheitliche Situation nach dem Sturz gestern hat sicher auch nicht geholfen. Nach dem ersten Rennen schmerzte der Rücken so sehr, dass ich für den zweiten Lauf Medikamente dagegen nehmen musste – und der hatte dann auch kein gutes Ende. Wir hätten eine Trainingssitzung im Trockenen gebraucht, um uns besser auf die heutigen Rennen auf trockener Fahrbahn vorbereiten zu können. Trotzdem: Wenn man bedenkt, dass dieses Wochenende alles neu war für mich und wie schwierig die Wetterbedingungen waren, kann ich sagen, dass ich viel gelernt habe. Auch wenn ich es in den Rennen gerne besser gemacht hätte. Ich hoffe, dass ich noch eine weitere Chance bekomme, mit der Ducati Rennen zu fahren. Mit etwas mehr Zeit und Erfahrung kann ich bestimmt besser sein.“
