A day without results for Badovini and Team SBK Ducati Alstare today at Istanbul Park

Istanbul (Turkey), Sunday 15 September 2013: despite physical problems resulting from Friday’s crash, Ayrton Badovini (Team SBK Ducati Alstare) attempted to participate in today’s Superbike races at Intercity Istanbul Park in Turkey. Unfortunately a technical stop in race 1 put paid to his chances of scoring points and, due to the pain he was suffering in the first half of that first race, he decided not to compete in the day’s second race.

Badovini suffered strained ligaments and swelling in his left ankle after a crash at turn 12 in Friday morning’s practice. Having not completed the qualifying sessions yesterday, the Ducati Alstare rider managed to get his boot on this morning despite the injury. He was therefore able to make a few laps during warm-up to assess whether he would be able to race later in the day.

Race 1 – Badovini lined up at the back of the grid, in sixteenth position, due to the fact that he did not participate in either of the qualifying sessions as a result of the injury. Making a good start, he was already up in thirteenth position by the end of the first lap. He held this position for the first eight laps but unfortunately, during the course of lap nine, he was forced to return to the garage due to a technical problem and was unable to rejoin the race.

Ayrton Badovini: “It’s a pity about the stop, today was a chance to make some laps and get to grips with this track. It would have been difficult to finish the race anyway due to my physical condition but I wanted to try at least. I was also having some grip issues because, having completed only one practice session, we didn't have time to identify the best set-up for our bike on this new track. Unfortunately a weekend to forget…”

Carlos Checa was unfortunately absent from today’s races, having crashed on Friday and suffering a contusion to the thorax and suspected fracture of the scaphoid as a result. He flew to Barcelona this morning where he will receive further treatment.

Una giornata senza risultati per Badovini ed il Team SBK Ducati Alstare a Istanbul Park

Istanbul (Turchia), domenica 15 settembre 2013: nonostante i problemi fisici in conseguenza dell’incidente di venerdi’, Ayrton Badovini (Team SBK Ducati Alstare) oggi ha provato a partecipare alle gare del mondiale Superbike disputatesi sul circuito Intercity Istanbul Park in Turchia. Purtroppo un technical stop gli ha impedito di concludere la prima manche, mentre per quanto riguarda la seconda Ayrton ha deciso, a causa del forte dolore sofferto durante gara 1, di non prendere il via.

Badovini ha subito lo stiramento dei legamenti della caviglia sinistra in una caduta occorsa venerdi’ mattina, nel corso delle prove. Dopo aver perso le sessioni di venerdi’ pomeriggio ed i turni di ieri, questa mattina il pilota del team Ducati Alstare e’ riuscito a calzare lo stivale, nonostante una caviglia ancora molto gonfia ed ha quindi potuto partecipare al warm-up del mattino, servito più che altro per comprendere quali fossero le sue effettive condizioni fisiche e se Ayrton fosse in grado di gareggiare.

Gara 1 – Badovini si e’ schierato nell’ultima fila della griglia di partenza, in sedicesima posizione, in quanto non aveva preso parte alle sessioni di qualifica, a causa dell’infortunio di venerdi’. Durante il primo giro Ayrton aveva gia’ recuperato tre posizioni sino a transitare al tredicesimo posto, una posizione che ha mantenuto per tutti I primi otto giri. Purtroppo al nono giro ha dovuto rientrare al box a causa di un problema tecnico e non ha più potuto far rientro in pista.

Ayrton Badovini: “Peccato per lo stop, oggi avevamo l’occasione per fare dei giri di pista per imparare questo tracciato, in vista dell’anno prossimo. Sarebbe già stata un’impresa concludere la prima manche, viste le mie condizioni fisiche, ma ho voluto provare ugualmente. Avevo anche qualche problema di grip perche’ avendo partecipato ad una sola sessione di prove, non abbiamo avuto il tempo per identificare il miglior set-up per la nostra moto su questa pista. Purtroppo un weekend da dimenticare.”

In un’incidente accaduto venerdi’ mattina durante le prove, Carlos Checa ha subito una contusione al torace ed una sospetta frattura dello scafoide della mano sinistra. Il pilota spagnolo non ha potuto proseguire le prove ed e’ gia’ rientrato in Spagna, per sottoporsi a visite più approfondite.

Una jornada sin resultados para Badovini y el Team SBK Ducati Alstare en Istanbul Park

Estambul (Turquía), domingo 15 de septiembre 2013: a pesar de sus problemas físicos a consecuencia del accidente del viernes, Ayrton Badovini (Team SBK Ducati Alstare) ha participado hoy en la carrera del mundial de Superbike disputada en el circuito Intercity Istanbul Park de Turquía. Desgraciadamente un problema técnico le ha impedido acabar la primera carrera y por lo que respecta a la segunda Ayrton ha decidido, a causa del fuerte dolor que ha sufrido en su tobillo durante la primera carrera, no tomar parte en la misma.

Badovini ha sufrido una distensión en un ligamento del tobillo izquierdo a causa de una caída que tuvo el viernes por la mañana durante los entrenamiento. Después de perderse la sesión del viernes por tarde y los entrenamientos de ayer, esta mañana el piloto del Ducati Alstare ha conseguido calzarse la bota a pesar de tener el tobillo muy hinchado y ha salido en el warm up para tratar de conocer sus condiciones físicas y salir en carrera.

Carrera 1: Badovini ha salido desde la última fila de la parrilla de salida al no salir ayer a la pista en la clasificación a causa de su caída del viernes. Durante la primera vuelta Ayrton ha recuperado tres posiciones para estar en la décimo tercera posición, puesto que ha conservado durante las ocho primeras vueltas. Desgraciadamente en la novena vuelta ha tenido que entrar en el box a causa de un problema técnico y no ha podido volver a la pista. Un fin de semana para olvidar.

Ayrton Badovini: "Lástima de la parada porque hoy teníamos la oportunidad de dar vueltas a esta pista para conocer el trazado con vistas al próximo año. Acabar la primera carrera ya hubiese sido un éxito vistas mis condiciones físicas, pero he querido probarlo. He tenido algunos problemas de grip porque habiendo tomado parte en una sola sesión de entrenamientos, no hemos tenido tiempo de para encontrar una mejor puesta a punto en nuestra moto en este circuito. Un fin de semana para olvidar”

Un accidente el viernes por la mañana durante los entrenamientos, le causó a Carlos Checa una contusión torácica y la sospecha de una fractura del escafoides de la mano izquierda. El piloto español no ha podido proseguir los entrenamientos y ya está en España para someterse a una visita más profunda.

Ergebnisloser Tag für Ayrton Badovini und das Team SBK Ducati Alstare in Istanbul

Istanbul/TUR, Sonntag, 15. September 2013 – Obwohl Ayrton Badovini nach seinem Sturz im Training am Freitag mit gesundheitlichen Problemen zu kämpfen hatte, versuchte der Ducati-Alstare-Pilot heute, an den Rennen auf der Strecke Intercity Istanbul Park an den Rennen zur Superbike-Weltmeisterschaft teilzunehmen. Unglücklicherweise beraubte ihn im ersten der beiden Rennen ein Boxenstopp aufgrund technischer Probleme aller Chancen, noch WM-Punkte einzufahren. Weil Badovini außerdem noch große Schmerzen aushalten musste, verzichtete er auf einen Start im zweiten Lauf.

Badovini litt an überdehnten Bändern und Schwellungen in seinem linken Knöchel, nachdem er im Training am Freitagmorgen in Kurve zwölf gestürzt war. Ohne die Qualifikationstrainings am Samstag zu absolvieren, schaffte es der Ducati-Alstare-Fahrer heute Morgen, trotz der Verletzung seinen Rennstiefel über den lädierten Knöchel zu ziehen. So konnte er einige Runden im Warm-up drehen, um festzustellen, ob ein Start in den Rennen später am Tag möglich sein würde.

Rennen 1: Weil er die Qualifikation wegen seiner Verletzung ausgelassen hatte, musste sich Ayrton Badovini als 16. am Ende des Feldes in der Startaufstellung einreihen. Nach gutem Start war er nach der ersten Runde bereits auf Platz 13 angekommen. Er konnte diese Position die ersten acht Runden über halten, musste dann aber wegen eines technischen Problems an die Box fahren und konnte das Rennen nicht wieder aufnehmen.

Ayrton Badovini:

„Der Boxenstopp war wirklich ärgerlich, ich hatte heute die Chance, einige Runden zu drehen und mit der Rennstrecke zurechtzukommen. Wegen meiner Verletzung wäre es auf jeden Fall schwierig gewesen, das Rennen zu Ende zu fahren, aber ich wollte es wenigstens probieren. Ich hatte dazu noch einige Probleme mit dem Reifen-Grip. Weil ich nur ein einziges Training gefahren bin, fiel es uns schwer, das beste Setup für diese neue Rennstrecke im Superbike-WM-Kalender herauszufinden. Das war ein Wochenende zum Vergessen…“

Carlos Checa, der zweite Fahrer des Teams SBK Ducati Alstare, war wie Badovini am Freitag gestürzt und hatte sich so schwer verletzt, dass er an den Rennen des heutigen Tages nicht teilnehmen konnte. Er hatte eine Prellung des Brustkorbs erlitten, außerdem bestand der Verdacht auf einen Kahnbeinbruch. Checa flog am Sonntagmorgen nach Barcelona und wird dort weiter medizinisch verorgt.
