Four top-ten results for Team SBK Ducati Alstare in today’s Superbike races at the Ring

Nürburgring (Germany), Sunday 1 September 2013: highs and lows for Team SBK Ducati Alstare during round 10 of the 2013 World Superbike championship this weekend at the Nürburgring. After scoring pole position yesterday, Ayrton Badovini finished today’s races in seventh and ninth place, Carlos Checa crossed the line tenth.

Race 1 – the first race took place in cold but dry conditions (air temp 14˚C, track 21˚C). Starting from pole for the first time in his Superbike career, Ayrton lost several positions through the first corners, placing eleventh by lap two. Followed by his team-mate Carlos, twelfth, who was able to make up a number of positions in the opening stages, the two Ducati Alstare men maintained those positions for the best part of the race. The race was brought to an early close by Race Direction when Rea and Camier were the victims of a bad accident two laps from the end. As a result, Badovini closed in final ninth position, Checa just behind him in tenth.

Race 2 – With less riders taking part after race one’s incident, Carlos started from fifteenth on the grid this time around. He was up in eleventh place after one lap and his position remained as such for almost the entire race. Despite fighting to catch first Cluzel and later Neukirchner, he was unable to pass them and thus closed the race in tenth place. Ayrton made a better start than he did in race one and was able to maintain a strong pace for the duration of the race. By lap six he was in seventh position behind Giugliano, a position that he was able to hold until the line.

Ayrton Badovini: “Unfortunately in the first race I lost too much ground in the first laps and many guys got past me. I was having trouble and made some mistakes too. For race 2 we made a small change to the bike and I decided to approach it with a different mentality and take things more calmly. It worked because I was able to be more precise, more consistent lap after lap. I’m pleased because besides the result, seventh, the important thing was that I was able to close the overall gap between myself and the leaders. All in all it’s been a positive weekend, one of the best we’ve had so far.”

Carlos Checa: “What can I say, the results speak for themselves. We made changes between race one and two but unfortunately this didn’t make a great deal of difference. I’ve had trouble getting the right balance with the bike this weekend. Contrary to Misano, where testing went pretty well, here I’ve had some problems. I don’t know, maybe I’ve lost some of the confidence I had in Misano. We’ve made modifications during the weekend but perhaps I haven’t been able to interpret them properly. The team has worked well and I hope we can find a better set-up with which we can improve our results in the next races.”

Quattro risultati nella top ten per il Team SBK Ducati Alstare nelle gare di oggi al Nürburgring

Nürburgring (Germania), domenica 1 settembre 2013: alti e bassi per il team SBK Ducati Alstare al Nürburgring dove questo weekend si e’ svolto il decimo round del Campionato Mondiale Superbike. Dopo aver ottenuto la pole ieri, Ayrton Badovini ha concluso le due gare di oggi in settima e nona posizione, Carlos Checa invece ha terminato entrambe le gare al decimo posto.

Gara 1 – La prima manche si e’ disputata in condizioni fredde ma asciutte (aria 14˚C, asfalto 21˚C). Partendo dalla pole per la prima volta nella sua carriera Superbike, Ayrton ha perso qualche posizione nelle prime curve, per posizionarsi poi all’undicesimo posto al secondo giro, seguito dal suo compagno di squadra Carlos, dodicesimo. Il pilota spagnolo è riuscito a recuperare alcune posizioni nella prima fase. I due piloti Ducati Alstare hanno mantenuto le loro posizioni per quasi tutta la durata della manche. La gara e’ stata fermata dalla Race Direction a causa di un brutto incidente occorso a Rea e a Camier a due giri dalla fine. Di conseguenza Badovini ha chiuso in nona posizione finale con Checa decimo.

Gara 2 – A causa della minore presenza di piloti sulla griglia, Checa e’ partito questa volta dal 15esimo piazzamento. Undicesimo dopo il primo giro, Carlos ha mantenuto questa posizione per quasi tutta la gara. Ha dato la caccia prima a Cluzel e poi a Neukirchner ma purtroppo non e’ riuscito a sorpassarli ed ha chiuso anche questa manche in decima posizione finale. Ayrton e’ partito bene ed e’ stato in grado di tenere un buon passo per tutti i 18 giri, anche se ha perso qualche posizione nella prima fase. Al settimo giro era settimo, una posizione che e’ riuscito a mantenere fino al traguardo, chiudendo a solo 14 secondi dal vincitore Chaz Davies.

Ayrton Badovini: “Purtroppo nella prima gara ho perso troppo terreno subito nei primi giri e mi hanno passato in tanti. Ho fatto fatica e anche qualche errore. Per gara 2 abbiamo fatto una piccolo modifica alla moto ed ho deciso di affrontarla con un’altra mentalita’, con più tranquillita’ e meno tensione . Ha funzionato e sono riuscito a mantenere un passo costante, giro dopo giro. Sono contento perche’ al di la’ della posizione finale, settimo, l’importante e’ che sono riuscito a colmare il gap fra me ed i leader. Tutto sommato e’ stato un weekend positivo, uno dei piu’ belli che abbiamo fatto.”

Carlos Checa: “Che posso dire, il risultato finale dice tutto. Abbiamo cambiato qualcosa fra la prima e seconda manche ma non ha fatto tanta differenza. Faccio fatica a trovare l’equilibrio giusto con la moto. Diversamente da Misano, che e’ andato bene come test, qui abbiamo avuto delle difficolta’. Ho perso un po’ della confidenza che invece avevo a Misano. Abbiamo fatto dei cambiamenti qui, ma forse non sono riuscito ad interpretarli bene. Il team ha lavorato comunque molto bene e spero che riusciamo a trovare un set-up migliore, che ci permetta a fare qualcosa in piu’ nelle prossime gare.”

Cuatro resultados en el “top ten” para Team SBK Ducati Alstare en Nürburgring

Nürburgring (Alemania), domingo 1 de septiembre 2013: altibajos en el team SBK Ducati Alstare en Nürburgring donde este fin de semana se ha disputado el décimo round del Campeonato del mundo de Superbike. Tras haber obtenido la pole, Ayrton Badovini ha acabado las dos carreras en la séptima y la novena posición. Carlos Checa ha terminado décimo en ambas carreras.

Carrera 1 – La primera carrera se ha disputado con frío pero en seco. Saliendo desde la pole position por vez primera en su carrera como piloto de Superbike, Ayrton ha perdido algunas posiciones en la primera curva, para después posicionarse en la décimo primera plaza en la segunda vuelta, seguido por su compañero de equipo Carlos Checa en la décimo segunda posición. El piloto español ha conseguido recuperar algunas posiciones durante toda la carrera. La prueba se recortado por parte de la dirección de carrera a causa de un grave accidente con Rea y Camier como protagonistas a dos vueltas del final. En consecuencia Badovini ha acabado en la novena posición final con Checa décimo.

Carrera 2 – A causa del menor número de pilotos en la parrilla de salida, Checa ha salido en la décimo quinta posición. Décimo primero después de la primera vuelta, Carlos ha mantenido esta posición. Ha dado caza primero a Cluzel y luego a Neukirchner pero desgraciadamente no ha podido superarlo acabando esta primera carrera en la décima posición final. Ayrton ha salido bien y ha tenido un ritmo constante durante las 18 vueltas, aunque ha perdido algunas posiciones en la primera fase. En la séptima vuelta era séptimo, una posición que ha conseguido mantener hasta el final, entrando a sólo 14 segundos del ganador Davies.

Ayrton Badovini: “Desgraciadamente en la primera carrera he perdido demasiado terreno en las primeras vueltas y me han pasado varios pilotos. He cometido algunos errores. Para la segunda carrera hemos hecho algunas modificaciones y he decidido afrontarla con otra mentalidad, con más tranquilidad y menos tensión. Ha funcionado y he conseguido mantener un ritmo constante vuelta tras vuelta. Estoy contento porque al margen de la séptima posición, lo importante es que he conseguido reducir la diferencia entre con el líder. En definitiva ha sido un fin de semana positivo, uno de los más bellos que hemos tenido”.

Carlos Checa: “Poco puedo decir. Los resultados lo dicen todo. Hemos hecho algunos cambios entre la primera y la segunda carrera pero no han marcado la diferencia. No encuentro el equilibrio con la moto. A diferencia de Misano, donde el test fue bien, aquí hemos tenido muchas dificultades. He perdido la confianza que tenía en Misano. Hemos probado algunos cambios pero quizás no he conseguido interpretarlos bien. El equipo ha trabajado muy bien y espero que consigamos encontrar un set-up mejor que nos permita hacer algo positivo en las próximas carreras”.

Vier Top-ten-Ergebnisse für das Team SBK Ducati Alstare auf dem Nürburgring

Nürburgring/D, Sonntag, 1. September 2013 – Höhen und Abgründe erlebte das Team SBK Ducati Alstare bei der zehnten Veranstaltung zur Superbike-Weltmeisterschaft am vergangenen Wochenende auf dem Nürburgring. Nachdem er sich in der Qualifikation die Pole Position des Trainingsschnellsten gesichert hatte, beendete Ayrton Badovini die zwei Rennen heute auf den Plätzen sieben und neun. Teamkollege Carlos Checa fuhr nach beiden Wettbewerben als Zehnter über die Ziellinie.

Rennen 1: Zum Start des ersten Rennens war es kalt, aber trocken (Lufttemperatur 14°C, Asphalttemperatur 21°C). Beim ersten Start seiner Superbike-Karriere von der Pole Position verlor Ayrton Badovini in den ersten Kurven etliche Plätze und lag nach der zweiten Runde auf Rang elf. Verfolgt wurde er von seinem auf Platz zwölf liegenden Teamkameraden Carlos Checa, der zu Beginn einige Positionen aufholen konnte. Die beiden Ducati Alstare-Fahrer konnten diese Plätze die meiste Zeit des Rennens über halten, bis es durch die Rennleitung vorzeitig abgebrochen wurde. Jonathan Rea und Leon Camier waren zwei Runden vor dem Ziel schwer gestürzt, dadurch wurden Badovini als Neunter und Checa als Zehnter gewertet

Rennen 2: Durch die wegen der Zwischenfälle dezimierte Anzahl der Teilnehmer startete Carlos Checa als 15. ins zweite Rennen. Bereits nach einer Runde lag er an elfter Stelle und blieb auch fast das gesamte Rennen über an dieser Position. Obwohl er anfänglich Jules Cluzel und Max Neukirchner jagte, konnte er die beiden Konkurrenten nicht überholen und beendete das Rennen schließlich auf Platz zehn. Ayrton Badovini war ein deutlich besserer Start als im ersten Lauf gelungen, zudem konnte er das gesamte Rennen über hohes Tempo fahren. In Runde sechs lag als Siebter hinter Davide Giugliano und konnte diese Position bis ins Ziel halten.

Ayrton Badovini:

„Im ersten Rennen hatte ich Pech und verlor am Start viel Boden, eine ganze Reihe von Fahrern konnte mich überholen. Ich hatte Probleme und machte auch Fehler. Für Rennen zwei änderten wir eine Kleinigkeit am Motorrad, und ich entschloss mich, etwas ruhiger an die Sache heranzugehen. Das funktionierte, ich konnte exakter fahren und gleichmäßigere Rundenzeiten abliefern. Ich bin mit dem Tag zufrieden, denn neben dem erfreulichen siebten Platz konnte ich den Abstand zu den Führenden in der WM-Wertung verringern. Das war ein gutes Wochenende, eines der besten, die wir dieses Jahr erlebten.“

Carlos Checa:

„Was soll ich sagen, die Ergebnisse sprechen für sich. Wir haben das Motorrad zwischen den beiden Rennen verändert, aber das machte keinen großen Unterschied. Ich hatte das ganze Wochenende über Schwierigkeiten damit, das Motorrad richtig auszubalancieren. Im Gegensatz zu Misano, wo die Testfahrten recht erfolgreich waren, hatte ich am Nürburgring Probleme. Wir haben permanent am Set-up gearbeitet, waren aber offenbar nicht in der Lage, die Probleme korrekt zu interpretieren. Das Team hat gut gearbeitet, und ich hoffe, dass wir bald eine Abstimmung finden werden, mit der wir unsere Resultate verbessern können.“
