Moscow (Russia), Friday 19 July 2013: Today saw the first day of Superbike action at Moscow Raceway, with Team SBK Ducati Alstare participating in the first practice and qualifying sessions of the weekend with riders Carlos Checa and Ayrton Badovini.

In morning practice, in dry conditions (air temperature 24˚C), Checa and Badovini wasted no time in getting down to work. Carlos immediately positioned himself inside the top five and was able to register a series of fast laps, concluding the session in fourth position with a best time of 1’36.5. Ayrton progressed steadily throughout the session, taking the opportunity to make some refinements to the set-up of his 1199. He closed the session in fourteenth position and with a time of 1’37.7.

Later in the day, in first qualifying, the Spanish rider was able to further improve on what was already a solid performance in practice. Having found a good rhythm, he closed with a best lap time of 1’35.9 with which he confirmed overall fourth position. Ayrton lowered his best time set this morning by a second to close the first qualifying session in thirteenth position.

Carlos Checa: “Today has been our best Friday of the season so far, with the exception of Phillip Island perhaps, and so I’m happy. We started with the base setting identified during the Misano tests and it’s worked well, we’ve changed very little, just making a few normal refinements. The aim is to improve through the mixed sections of the track and I’ve been able to do that today. We of course still lose out along the straight but I’m pleased with today’s results and with the fact that I’ve been able to lap with consistently fast times. I hope this base allows us to make two good races on Sunday.”

Ayrton Badovini: “I’m not satisfied with how today went, the tyres in the harder range that are available to us here in Moscow gave me a lot of problems with rear grip. Also in braking I had a few issues because when I push, the front tends to close. We’re working hard, we’ve looked at the data and tomorrow we’ll try to do something to balance the bike a bit better and find more grip.”

Incoraggiante quarto posto provvisorio per Checa ed il Team SBK Ducati Alstare nelle prime qualifiche di oggi al Moscow Raceway

Mosca (Russia), venerdi’ 19 luglio 2013: Le Superbike sono scese in pista oggi al Moscow Raceway, dove il team SBK Ducati Alstare ha partecipato alle prime sessioni di prova e di qualifica del weekend con i suoi piloti Carlos Checa ed Ayrton Badovini. 

Nelle prove della mattinata, in condizioni di pista asciutta (temperature aria 24˚C), Checa e Badovini si sono messi subito al lavoro. Carlos si e’ posizionato fra i primi cinque gia’ nella prima fase del turno ed ha fatto registrare una serie di giri veloci, per concludere poi la sessione in quarta posizione, grazie ad un giro migliore in 1’36.5. Ayrton ha fatto costanti progressi durante la sessione, cogliendo l’opportunita’ di raffinare il set-up della sua 1199. Badovini ha chiuso la sessione al quattordicesimo posto, con un crono  di 1’37.7.

Nelle qualifiche pomeridiane il pilota spagnolo e’ stato in grado di migliorare la sua già soddisfacente prestazione della mattina. Girando con tempi costantemente veloci, ha chiuso con un miglior crono di 1’35.9 con il quale ha consolidato la quarta posizione ottenuta nelle libere. Ayrton ha abbassato di un secondo il suo tempo della mattina, per poi chiudere queste prime qualifiche in tredicesima posizione. 

Carlos Checa: “Oggi e’ stato il nostro miglior venerdi’ della stagione, fatta forse eccezione per quello di Phillip Island e quindi sono molto contento. Abbiamo cominciato con la base trovata nei test di Misano ed ha funzionato bene anche qui. Abbiamo dovuto cambiare molto poco, facendo solo il solito lavoro di messa a punto. L’obiettivo e’ ora quello di migliorare nella parte mista del tracciato ed oggi ho potuto girare bene. Poi, ovviamente, perdiamo qualcosa in rettilineo, ma sono felice del risultato di oggi e del fatto che ho potuto girare con tempi costantemente veloci. Spero che questa base ci permetta di fare due belle gare domenica.”

Ayrton Badovini: “Non sono soddisfatto di oggi, le soluzioni di gomma nella fascia dura disponibili qui a Mosca mi hanno dato grossi problemi di grip al posteriore. Anche in frenata ho qualche problema perché quando forzo l’anteriore tende a chiudersi. Stiamo lavorando molto, abbiamo analizzato i dati e domani proveremo a fare qualcosa per bilanciare meglio la mia moto e trovare più grip.”

Checa y el Team SBK Ducati Alstare en la primera clasificación de hoy en Moscow Raceway

Moscú (Rusia), viernes 19 de julio 2013: Las Superbike han desembarcado hoy en el Moscow Raceway, donde el Team SBK Ducati Alstare ha participado en la primera sesión de entrenamientos clasificatorios del fin  de semana con sus pilotos Carlos Checa y Ayrton Badovini. 

En la sesión libre de la mañana, con la pista seca  y una temperatura ambiente de 24º, Checa y Badovini han comenzado a trabajar rápidamente. Carlos se ha posicionado entre los cinco primeros en la primera fase de la sesión y ha conseguido encadenar una serie de vueltas rápidas, para acabar en cuarta posición, gracias a una mejor vuelta de 1'36.5. Ayrton ha hecho constantes progresos durante la sesión afinando la puesta a punto de su 1119 Panigale. Ha finalizado en la décimo cuarta posición, con un  crono de 1'37.7. 

En la sesión clasificatoria Carlos Checa ha estado en posición de mejorar su ya satisfactorias prestaciones de la mañana. Girando constantemente en tiempo rápidos, ha finalizado con un crono de 1'35.9 con el que se ha consolidado en la cuarta posición obtenida en los libres. Ayrton ha mejorado un segundo su crono de la mañana, para finalizar en la décimo tercera posición. 

Carlos Checa: “Hoy ha sido nuestro mejor viernes de la temporada, exceptuando el de Phillip Island y y por tanto estoy muy contento. Hemos comenzado con la base que encontramos en los test de Misano y ha funcionado también aquí. Hemos tenido que hacer muy pocas modificaciones, únicamente una puesta a punto. El objetivo es ahora mejorar en la zona mixta del trazado. Perdemos en la recta, pero estoy contento con el resultado porque he rodado constantemente en tiempos rápidos. Espero que esta base me permita hacer dos buenas careras el domingo”. 

Ayrton Badovini: “No estoy satisfecho de los resultados de hoy y los neumáticos disponibles aquí en Moscú me han dado muchos problemas con el grip posterior. También he tenido algunos problemas en la frenada porque cuando fuerzo, tiende a cerrarse de delante. Estamos trabajando mucho. Hemos analizado los datos y mañana probaremos alguna cosa para equilibrar mejor mi moto y encontrar más grip”.
