Moscow (Russia), Saturday 20 July 2013: mixed fortunes for team SBK Ducati Alstare in this afternoon’s eighth Superpole of the World Superbike season at Moscow Raceway. Carlos Checa qualified for tomorrow’s races in sixth position while Ayrton Badovini will line up in fourteenth position on the grid.

 

Due to a wet track, no rider was able to improve on their times set yesterday during second qualifying this morning. The Ducati Alstare pair nevertheless went out on track in order to be prepared in case tomorrow’s races prove to be similarly wet. Unfortunately, just a few minutes before the end of the session, the rear wheel of Carlos’ 1199 locked up, throwing Carlos to the ground. The team is still looking into the cause of the crash. The Spanish rider took a blow to the head in the fall but after consulting with the doctors at the Clinica Mobile, he was passed fit to participate in the subsequent track sessions, albeit on the ‘new’ bike built from the rolling chassis by his mechanics in just over an hour.

 

Carlos and Ayrton, fourth and thirteenth in yesterday’s first qualifying session, thus qualified for this afternoon’s Superpole thanks to the times recorded yesterday afternoon in dry conditions.

 

Superpole 1: both Ducati Alstare riders went out on qualifiers, having made a first exit on race rubber. With the qualifier Carlos was able to record a fast time of 1’35.4 that positioned him third. Ayrton, who struggled to make the most of the qualifying tyre, closed in fourteenth position and will therefore start tomorrow’s races from the fifth row of the grid.

 

Superpole 2: taking advantage of the second qualifying tyre available to him, Checa once again earned the third position thanks to a flying lap of 1’35.0, his best time of the weekend so far.

 

Superpole 3: back out on one of the used qualifiers, the Spaniard was nevertheless able to record a best of 1’35.2, thanks to which he closed this final Superpole phase in overall sixth position, thus ensuring himself of a position on the second row of tomorrow’s race grid.

 

Carlos Checa: “Considering how this morning went, with the crash, I’d say that we did well in Superpole. I felt better and we were able to record some good times. Of course we have a limitation along the straight where we’re losing at least three tenths but in the mixed section I was able to lap fast with the used tyre. My mechanics have done a great job today, providing me with a bike - built from the rolling chassis - that was well balanced and almost identical to my bike of yesterday. It was a pity that I crashed this morning, I hit my head and also my shoulder but in the end it didn’t bother me while riding, I just had a bit of a headache after the session ended. As long as I rest up this evening I’ll be fine for the races. It won’t change a lot for us if it’s wet tomorrow, the race would be more ‘open’ but that would the case for everyone so we’ll see. I feel ready whatever conditions are like tomorrow.”

 

Ayrton Badovini: “I am not very happy as it was a difficult day. This afternoon I had unexpected chattering problems with the qualifying tyre which prevented me from recording a fast lap. I’m disappointed because this morning I was lapping well in the wet… We have to look at the data carefully this evening but of course we’ll have to make some changes before tomorrow morning’s warm-up, I hope we can find a solution. To tell the truth I wouldn’t mind if it were wet for the races at this point.”

Checa ed il Team SBK Ducati Alstare si qualificano al sesto posto per le gare SBK di domani a Mosca

 

Mosca (Russia), sabato 20 luglio 2013: risultati misti per il team SBK Ducati Alstare nell’ottava Superpole della stagione, disputatasi oggi al Moscow Raceway. Carlos Checa si e’ qualificato al sesto posto per le gare di domani, Ayrton Badovini si schierera’ invece dalla quattordicesima posizione.

 

Nel secondo turno di qualifiche di questa mattina nessun pilota ha potuto migliorare i tempi fatti segnare ieri a causa della pista bagnata. I portacolori del Ducati Alstare sono scesi in pista per lavorare sul set-up delle loro moto nel caso la pista fosse bagnata anche per le due gare di domani. Purtroppo, a pochi minuti dalla fine della sessione Carlos è stato vittima di una caduta per il bloccaggio della ruota posteriore le cui cause sono in via di accertamento. Nella caduta lo spagnolo ha battuto la testa sull’asfalto, ma fortunatamente non ha riportato gravi conseguenze ed ha potuto partecipare alle sessioni successive in sella alla ‘nuova’ moto costruita nell’arco di un’ora dai suoi tecnici, partendo dal rolling chassis.

 

Carlos e Ayrton, rispettivamente quarto e tredicesimo nella giornata di ieri, si sono qualificati per la Superpole grazie ai tempi fatti registrare nella prima sessione di qualifica.

 

Superpole 1: entrambi i piloti del team Ducati Alstare sono usciti con una gomma da qualifica, dopo aver fatto una prima uscita con una gomma da gara. Con la qualifica Carlos ha potuto far registrare un crono veloce di 1’35.4 che lo ha posizionato al terzo posto. Ayrton, che ha fatto fatica a sfruttare la gomma da qualifica, ha chiuso in quattordicesima posizione e domani per le due gare si schierera’ in quinta fila. 

 

Superpole 2: montata la seconda gomma da qualifica a sua disposizione, Checa si e’ guadagnato ancora una volta la terza posizione, grazie ad un tempo veloce di 1’35.0, il suo miglior giro del weekend fino ad allora.

 

Superpole 3: Carlos è uscito con la qualifica usata nella seconda sessione e nonostante l’usura della gomma il pilota spagnolo ha fatto registrare un buon 1’35.2, grazie al quale ha concluso la terza fase della Superpole in sesta posizione, assicurandosi un posto in seconda fila per la griglia di partenza delle due gare di domani.

 

Carlos Checa: “Considerando com’e’ andata stamattina, con la caduta, direi che abbiamo fatto bene in  Superpole. Mi sono ripreso e siamo riusciti a far registrare dei buoni tempi. Ovviamente abbiamo una limitazione in rettilineo, dove perdiamo almeno tre decimi, ma nel misto sono riuscito a girare forte anche con la gomma usata. I meccanici hanno fatto un gran bel lavoro per darmi una moto, fatta dal rolling chassis, bilanciata nel modo giusto e praticamente uguale alla mia moto di ieri. Un peccato per la caduta della mattina, ho preso una botta alla testa e anche alla spalla, ma che alla fine non mi hanno dato tanto fastidio mentre giravo. Ho avvertito mal di testa alla fine, ma stasera mi riposerò e saro’ sicuramente a posto per domani. Per noi non cambiera’ molto che piova o meno domani. In caso di pioggia sarebbe una gara piu’ aperta per tutti e non solo per noi, quindi vedremo. Sono pronto qualunque siano domani le condizioni della pista.”

 

Ayrton Badovini: “Non sono molto felice, e’ stato un giorno difficile. Oggi pomeriggio con la qualifica ho avuto problemi inaspettati di chattering che non mi hanno permesso di fare un giro veloce. Mi dispiace perche’ stamattina giravo molto bene sul bagnato… Questa sera dovremo controllare molto bene i dati in nostro possesso e faremo sicuramente dei cambiamenti prima del warm-up di domani. Speriamo di trovare qualche buona soluzione e ad essere sincero non mi dispiacerebbe se per le gare di domani arrivasse un po’ di pioggia.”

Checa y el Team SBK Ducati Alstare se clasifican en la sexta posición para las carreras de mañana en Moscú

 

Moscú (Rusia), sábado 20 de julio 2013: diferentes resultados para los pilotos del SBK Ducati Alstare en la Superpole del Moscow Raceway. Carlos Checa se ha clasificado en la sexta posición para la carrera de mañana y Ayrton Badovini saldrá desde la décimo cuarta posición.

 

En la segunda serie de los entrenamientos clasificatorios de esta mañana, ningún piloto ha podido mejorar sus registros de ayer a causa de la lluvia. Los representantes del Ducati Alstare han salido a la pista para trabajar en el set-up de sus motos en el caso de que la pista estuviera mañana mojada. A pocos minutos del final Carlos Checa ha sido víctima de una caída al bloquearse la rueda posterior por causas que todavía no se han aclarado, pero afortunadamente no ha tenido consecuencias graves y ha podido participar en las siguientes sesiones con la moto construida en una hora por sus técnicos, partiendo de un “rolling chasis”. 

 

Carlos e Ayrton, cuarto y décimo tercero en la clasificación de ayer, se han clasificado para la Superpole gracias a los tiempos conseguidos en la primera clasificación.  

 

Superpole 1: ambos pilotos han salido con un neumático de clasificación tras una salida con neumático de carrera. Con la goma de clasificación Carlos ha podido marcar una vuelta rápida de 1'35.4 que lo han colocado en la tercera posición. Ayrton, ha finalizado en la décimo cuarta posición  y mañana saldrá en ambas carreras desde la quinta fila.

 

Superpole 2: montada la segunda goma de clasificación disponible, Carlos de nuevo ha acabado en l tercera posición gracias una vuelta rápida de 1'35.0 en la mejor vuelta de su fin de semana.  

 

Superpole 3: Carlos ha salido con su neumático de clasificación usado en la segunda serie y pese al desgaste el piloto español ha podido registrar una vuelta de 1'35.2, gracias al cual ha acabado la tercera ronda de la Superpole en la sexta posición, asegurándose un puesto en la segunda fila de la parrilla de salida de las dos carreras de mañana. 

 

Carlos Checa: “Considerando como ha sido la jornada y la caída, puedo decir que hemos hecho una buena Superpole. He podido volver a salir y conseguir marcar buenos tiempos. Obviamente tenemos una limitación en la recta donde al menos perdemos tres décimas, pero en la zona mixta he conseguido rodar fuerte incluso con los neumáticos gastados. Los mecánicos han hecho un gran trabajo para darme una moto partiendo del rolling chasis, equilibrada del modo correcto y prácticamente  igual a mi moto de ayer. Una lástima la caída de esta mañana, me he dado un golpe en la cabeza y en la espalda me dolía bastante mientras rodaba. He tenido un poco de dolor de cabeza, pero esta noche descansaré y seguramente mañana estaré mejor. En el caso de lluvia la carrera será más abierta para todos, no sólo para mi, así que ya veremos. Estoy listo sean cuales sean las condiciones de la pista”. 

 

Ayrton Badovini: “No estoy muy contento, ha sido un día difícil. Hoy por la tarde con el neumático de clasificación he tenido inesperados problemas de chattering que no me han permitido hacer una vuelta rápida. Tenemos que controlar nuestro datos y seguramente haremos cambios en el warm up de mañana. Esperamos encontrar una buena solución  y siendo sincero no me importaría que lloviera en las carreras de mañana...”
