Moscow (Russia), Sunday 21 July 2013: Ayrton Badovini and Team SBK Ducati Alstare scored their first podium of the 2013 World Superbike season in a very wet race 1 today at Russia’s Moscow Raceway. The very serious accident during the Supersport race, in which rider Andrea Antonelli tragically lost his life, affected the entire paddock and, considering also the flooded track, Race Direction rightly decided to cancel the second Superbike race.

 

Race 1 – in dry conditions (air temperature 15˚C, track 16˚C), Ayrton started well from fourteenth on the grid, positioning himself twelfth after the first laps. By lap six it had begun to rain in every sector of the track but Ayrton, with a strong pace despite the increasingly difficult conditions, began to push to reach and then pass Camier, Neukirchner and Guintoli. Five laps from the end of the race, the leading pack of riders, including Badovini, all chose to make a pit-stop, changing to rain tyres in response to the worsening conditions. Returning to the track in fourth position, thanks to a very efficient pit-stop on the part of his technicians, the young Italian rider didn’t hold back, lapping significantly faster than anyone else on track. He caught and passed Rea in the space of just two laps to move into third, a position that he then held until the chequered flag. Carlos started from the second row but unfortunately, trapped in the middle of traffic through the first turns, the Ducati Alstare rider was hit by Cluzel, causing them both to crash out. Unfortunately Carlos could not continue with the race.

 

Ayrton Badovini: “Today was an important day for me, having achieved my first podium with team Ducati Alstare, and the first for the Panigale in this championship. The race was really hard and conditions were difficult. We knew we’d have good pace if it were wet and everything went as I had hoped. My guys did a fantastic job, my pit-stop was really fast and, back on track, I was really able to push. I’m sorry Francis was unable to be here with us this weekend but above all I am sorry for the accident in Supersport and for the tragedy involving Antonelli. It’s impossible to revel in a podium finish when something of this magnitude happens.”

 

Carlos Checa: “It was a day to forget, mainly due to what happened in Supersport and the tragic passing of Antonelli. To talk about my race almost seems superfluous, and I want to send my condolences to his family, what a terrible tragic accident. Getting back to race 1, I found myself in the air without knowing why; I had already worked out how I wanted to enter the turn when Cluzel hit me. There was nothing I could do, and I found myself in the gravel, hitting my head hard again. After the race I went to get checked over in the Clinica Mobile, because I had cut my right arm. There the doctors realized that I was having problems focusing, some blurred vision, and then I also suffered some nausea, so very probably I wouldn’t have been able to participate in race 2.”

 

Ernesto Marinelli, Ducati Superbike project manager: “You can’t celebrate a podium when the paddock has suffered such a loss. The thoughts of everyone in Ducati and Team Alstare are with Andrea’s family, team and everyone that knew him. Analysing race 1, Ayrton’s podium was a very important result both for the team and for Ducati. He rode very well in dry conditions and even better when the track was wet. Unfortunately, once more, bad luck prevented Carlos from finishing what started out as a very positive weekend. The results in practice combined with Ayrton’s race nevertheless represent a step forward in the important work that the riders, the entire team and Ducati’s development team are carrying out in order for us to return to the highest level.”

Badovini ed il Team SBK Ducati Alstare conquistano il loro primo podio con la Panigale in gara 1 a Mosca. Annullata Gara 2 a seguito del grave incidente in Supersport che e' costato la vita al pilota Antonelli

 

Mosca (Russia), domenica 21 luglio 2013: Ayrton Badovini ed il team SBK Ducati Alstare hanno conquistato il loro primo podio della stagione 2013, con un ottimo terzo posto nella prima gara disputatasi oggi sul circuito russo di Moscow Raceway. Il gravissimo incidente durante la gara Supersport, dove ha tragicamente perso la vita il pilota Andrea Antonelli, ha toccato tutto il paddock, che, viste anche le condizioni della pista completamente allagata dalla pioggia, ha giustamente fatto cancellare lo svolgimento di gara 2 da parte della Direzione.

 

Gara 1 – in condizioni di pista asciutta, (temperatura d’aria 15˚C, asfalto 16˚C), Ayrton e’ partito bene dal 14esimo posto della griglia per posizionarsi dodicesimo dopo i primi turni. Al sesto giro ha cominciato a piovere in tutte le sezioni della pista, ma Ayrton, con un buon passo e nonostante le difficili condizioni, è rimasto concentrato ed ha cominciato a spingere per raggiungere e superare prima Camier, poi Neukirchner e quindi Guintoli. A cinque giri dalla fine i leader della gara, Badovini incluso, hanno fatto un pit-stop per montare le gomme rain siccome la pioggia battente si faceva sempre più forte. Il giovane pilota italiano è rientrato in pista in quarta posizione più determinato che mai, girando con un passo piu’ veloce di tutti gli altri piloti. Ayrton ha raggiunto Rea nell’arco di un giro e successivamente lo ha sorpassato conquistando la terza posizione e mantenendola poi sino al traguardo. Carlos e’ partito dalla seconda fila, ma purtroppo, intrappolato in mezzo al traffico nelle prime curve, il portacolori Ducati Alstare e’ stato urtato da Cluzel, e a causa del contatto entrambi i piloti sono caduti. Carlos purtroppo non ha potuto riprendere la gara che si è conclusa con un ritiro.

 

Ayrton Badovini: “E’ stato molto importante per me regalare il primo podio per il team Ducati Alstare ed il primo podio per la Panigale in questo campionato. La gara è stata molto dura viste le condizioni. Sapevamo di avere un buon passo nel caso fosse stato bagnato ed e’ andato tutto come avevamo sperato. I miei ragazzi hanno lavorato benissimo, il mio pit-stop e’ stato molto veloce e, tornando in pista, ho potuto spingere forte. Mi dispiace che Francis non sia potuto stare qui con noi questo weekend, ma soprattutto mi dispiace per il grave incidente in Superport e per la tragedia di Antonelli. Impossibile gioire di un podio quando succede un fatto di questa gravita'. 

 

Carlos Checa: “Un giorno di gara da dimenticare, soprattutto per quanto e successo in Supersport e per la tragica scomparsa di Antonelli. Commentare la mia gara diventa quasi superfluo, e vorrei far sentire il mio cordoglio alla famiglia di Andrea Antonelli, un incidente, una fatalita' ma senza dubbio terribile. Tornando a gara 1, mi sono trovato in aria senza sapere il motivo, avevo già impostato la mia traiettoria di ingresso quando sono stato urtato da Cluzel. Niente da fare, mi sono trovato a terra ed ho di nuovo colpito forte la testa. Dopo la manche sono andato a farmi visitare alla Clinica Mobile, perche’ avevo una ferita al gomito destro. Li hanno visto che facevo anche fatica focalizzare la vista e poi è sopraggiunta un po’ di nausea, quindi probabilmente non sarei stato, comunque, in condizione di partecipare alla seconda manche.”

 

Ernesto Marinelli, Ducati Superbike project manager: “Non si puo festeggiare un podio con un lutto cosi grave e sconvolgente per tutto il paddock. Tutta la Ducati e tutto il Team Alstare esprime il suo cordoglio e siamo vicini alla famiglia, alla squadra e a quanti conoscevano Andrea. Analizzando comunque gara 1, il podio di Ayrton e’ stato un risultato molto importante sia per la squadra che per Ducati. Ha guidato molto bene sull’asciutto e in maniera egregia quando la pista e’ diventata bagnata. Purtroppo ancora una volta la sfortuna non ha consentito a Carlos di coronare un weekend iniziato cosi’ positivamente. I risultati in prova associati alla gara di Ayrton sono comunque un buon passo in avanti che corona parte del grande lavoro che i piloti, tutta la squadra e il team di sviluppo in Ducati sta facendo per riportarci nelle posizioni piu’ alte."

Badovini y el Team SBK Ducati Alstare han conquistado el primer podio con la Panigale en la primera carrera de Moscú. Anulada la segunda carrera tras el grave accidente en Supersport que le ha costado la vida al piloto italiano Andrea Antonelli

 

Moscú (Rusia), domingo 21 de julio 2013: Ayrton Badovini y el SBK Ducati Alstare han conquistado el primer podio de la temporada  2013, con un óptimo tercer puesto en la primera carrera disputada hoy en el circuito ruso Moscow Raceway. El  gravísimo incidente durante la  carrera de Supersport donde ha perdido la vida trágicamente el piloto Antonelli, ha tocado a todo el paddock que visto las condiciones de la pista completamente inundada por el agua de la lluvia, ha obligado a la dirección de carrera a suspender la segunda serie.

 

Carrera 1. Con la pista seca, (temperatura ambiente 15˚C, asfalto 16˚C), Ayrton ha salido desde la décimo cuarta posición para posicionarse en la décimo segunda plaza en las primeras vueltas. En la vuelta seis ha empezado a llover en todas las secciones de la pista pero Ayrton, con buen ritmo a pesar de las condiciones, ha estado muy concentrado y ha empezado a empujar fuerte para superar primero a Camier, luego a Neukirchner y más tarde a Guintoli. A cinco vueltas para el final el líder la carrera y también Badovini, han hecho un  pit-stop para montar neumáticos de lluvia al ver que comenzaba a llover con más fuerza. El joven piloto italiano a vuelto a la pista en cuarta posición y con mucha determinación, ha girado con un ritmo más rápido que el resto. Ayrton ha luchado con Rea para superarlo y conquistar la tercera posición manteniéndola hasta el final. Carlos Checa ha salido desde la segunda fila pero situado en medio del pelotón, ha sido golpeado por Cluzel y a causa de este contacto ambos pilotos se han caído. Carlos no ha podido re emprender la carrera y se ha tenido que retirar.  

 

Ayrton Badovini: “Ha sido muy importante para mi regalar el primer podio de la Panigale en este campeonato al  team Ducati Alstare. La carrera ha sido muy dura debido a las condiciones. Sabíamos que teníamos un buen paso en el caso de que lloviera y ha ido todo tal y como esperábamos. Los chicos de mi equipo han hecho un gran trabajo, el pit-stop ha sido rapidísimo y cuando he vuelto a la pista, he podido tirar fuerte. Me sabe mal que Francis no haya podido estar con nosotros aquí, pero sobre todo me sabe muy mal el grave accidente de Supersport y la tragedia de Antonelli. Es imposible disfrutar de un podio cuando sucede algo así...” 

 

Carlos Checa: “Una jornada para olvidar, sobre todo por lo que ha sucedido en Supersport con la trágica pérdida de Antonelli. Comentar mi carrera me parece superfluo y quiero darle mi condolencia a la familia Antonelli. Ha sido un accidente, una fatalidad sin duda terrible. Por lo que respecta a la carrera me he encontrado en el aire sin saber el motivo pues ya tenía mi trayectoria cuando Cluzel me ha golpeado. Nada que hacer. Me he encontrado en el suelo y de nuevo me he dado un golpe fuerte golpe en la cabeza. Me he visitado en la Clínica Mobile porque tenía una herida en el codo izquierdo. He tenido problemas para focalizar la vista y algo de nauseas y probablemente no estaba en condiciones de tomar parte en la segunda carrera”.  

 

Ernesto Marinelli, Ducati Superbike project manager: “No se puede celebrar un podio con lo que ha sucedido que nos ha compungido a todo el paddock.  Toda la familia Ducati y el Team Alstare estamos junto a la familia y a cuantos conocían a Andrea. Analizando la primera carrera, el podio de Ayrton ha sido un resultado muy importante tanto para el equipo como para Ducati. Ha pilotado muy bien en seco y maravillosamente con la pista mojada. Por desgracia de nuevo la mala suerte ha impedido a Carlos completar un fin de semana que empezó de forma muy positiva. Los resultados de los entrenamientos, además de la carrera de Ayrton son dos pasos adelante que coronan el buen trabajo que están haciendo  los pilotos, el equipo y el equipo de desarrollo, por alcanzar posiciones más altas”.

Erster WM-Podestplatz für Badovini und die Ducati Panigale beim ersten Rennen in Moskau. Zweiter Lauf nach dem tödlichen Sturz von Antonelli im Supersport-Rennen abgesagt

 

Moskau/Russland, Sonntag, 21. Juli 2013 – Ayrton Badovini und das Team SBK Ducati Alstare erreichten heute in einem stark verregneten Rennen eins auf dem russischen Moscow Raceway den ersten Podestplatz der Superbike-WM-Saison 2013. Der schwere und tragische Unfall während der ersten Runde des Supersport-Rennens, bei dem der italienische Fahrer Andrea Antonelli ums Leben kam, schockierte das gesamte Fahrerlager. Aufgrund der überfluteten Rennstrecke entschied die Rennleitung richtigerweise, den zweiten Superbike-Lauf des Tages abzusagen.

 

Rennen 1: Bei trockenen Wetterbedingungen mit 15 Grad Luft- und 16 Grad Streckentemperatur zeigte Ayrton Badovini von Platz 14 aus einen guten Start und lag bereits nach der ersten Runde auf Position zwölf. Zur sechsten Runde hatte es auf der gesamten Strecke zu regnen begonnen, doch trotz der immer schwieriger werdenden Situation konnte Badovini ein hohes Tempo fahren, auf die Konkurrenten vor ihm aufschließen und im Anschluss Leon Camier, Max Neukirchner und Sylvain Guintoli überholen. Fünf Runden vor Rennende entschieden sich die führenden Fahrer inklusive Badovini für einen Boxenstopp, um auf Regenreifen umzurüsten. Dank eines höchst effektiven Boxenstopps seiner schnellen Mechaniker konnte der Italiener als Vierter auf die Piste zurückkehren und sofort deutlich schneller fahren als alle Gegner. Badovini benötigte lediglich zwei Runden, um Jonathan Rea einzuholen und an ihm vorbei auf Platz drei vorzufahren, den er bis zur Zielflagge nicht mehr abgab. Carlos Checa war von der zweiten Startreihe aus ins Rennen gegangen, geriet jedoch in der engen ersten Kurve ins Gedränge und wurde von Jules Cluzel gerammt, wodurch beide Fahrer stürzten. Glücklicherweise wurde Checa nicht verletzt, konnte jedoch das Rennen nicht wieder aufnehmen.

 

Ayrton Badovini:

„Heute war ein wichtiger Tag für mich – ich habe für das Team Ducati Alstare meinen ersten Podestplatz erreicht und den ersten für die Ducati Panigale in dieser Weltmeisterschaft. Das Rennen war hart und die Bedingungen echt schwierig. Wir wussten, dass wir im Nassen schnell sein würden, und tatsächlich kam alles wie erhofft. Meine Mechaniker haben bei meinem schnellen Boxenstopp wirklich fantastisch gearbeitet, nach meiner Rückkehr auf die Strecke konnte ich richtig angreifen. Schade, dass Teamchef Francis Batta bei diesem Rennen nicht mit uns im Fahrerlager sein konnte. Viel mehr tut mir aber die Tragödien um Andrea Antonelli Leid. Wenn etwas derart Einschneidendes passiert, kann man sich nicht über einen Platz auf dem Siegerpodest freuen.“

 

Carlos Checa:

„Ein Tag zum Vergessen, insbesondere wegen des Unfalls im Supersport-Rennen und dem tragischen Tod von Andrea Antonelli. Über mein Rennen zu reden erscheint da fast überflüssig, meine Gedanken sind bei Antonellis Familie. Was mein Rennen angeht, flog ich plötzlich durch die Luft, ohne zu wissen, was eigentlich geschehen war. Ich hatte mir bereits überlegt, wie ich die erste Kurve angehen wollte, als Cluzel mich rammte. Ich konnte nichts machen und fand mich im Kiesbett wieder, nachdem ich mit dem Kopf hart aufgeschlagen war. Anschließend ging ich ins Clinica Mobile, weil ich mir auch einen Schnitt am Arm zugezogen hatte. Dort stellten die Ärzte fest, dass ich Probleme damit hatte, meinen Blick zu fokussieren und etwas verschwommen sah. Außerdem war mir übel, so dass ich im zweiten Rennen vermutlich gar nicht hätte starten können.“

 

Ernesto Marinelli, Ducati Superbike Projektmanager:

„Niemand kann einen Podestplatz feiern, wenn das Fahrerlager so einen Verlust erlitten hat. Die Gedanken aller bei Ducati und im Team sind bei Andrea, seiner Familie, seinem Team und allen, die ihn kannten. Ayrtons Platz auf dem Siegerpodest nach dem ersten Rennen war ein sehr wichtiges Ergebnis für das Team und für Ducati. Er fuhr schon im Trockenen sehr gut und wurde im Nassen noch besser. Unglücklicherweise hat Pech einmal mehr verhindert, dass Carlos dieses Wochenende erfolgreich abschließen konnte, obwohl es so gut begonnen hatte. Seine Trainingsergebnisse und Ayrtons Resultat im Rennen zeigen bei der wichtigen Arbeit, die von den Fahrern, dem Team und der Ducati-Entwicklungsabteilung auf dem Weg zurück an die Spitze geleistet wird, einen klaren Schritt nach vorn.“
