Eighth and tenth for Badovini and Team SBK Ducati Alstare in today’s SBK races at Imola
Imola (Italy), Sunday 30 June 2013: unfortunately, after making a positive start to the race weekend, Team SBK Ducati Alstare and riders Ayrton Badovini and Carlos Checa experienced a difficult day today at the Imola circuit. Badovini concluded the day’s two Superbike races in eighth and tenth position, Checa eleventh and twelfth.
Race 1 – Ayrton, eighth on the grid, lost a couple of positions through the first laps and was lying twelfth by lap five, followed by his team-mate Carlos, thirteenth. The Italian was able to pass Haslam during the course of the next lap, and then Baz to place himself ninth by mid-race. His fastest laps arrived during the second half of the race but unfortunately, due to a gap of roughly six seconds that had opened up between him and the group immediately ahead of him, Ayrton was unable to improve much further on his position, thus concluding the race in final eighth position. Carlos, suffering from grip issues from early on, rode a solitary second half of the race, maintaining his position to cross the line in eleventh place.
Race 2 – As in race one, and on hotter tarmac (54˚C) with respect to race one, Ayrton lost a little ground in the opening stages, to position himself eleventh by lap five. For the entire second half of the race he chased down Cluzel, managing to pass the Frenchman through the very last corner to cross the line in final tenth place. Carlos, thirteenth on the grid, made up a position through the first laps but was unable to catch those in front due to rear traction problems. He finished the race in twelfth position.
Carlos Checa: “This weekend has been hard. Honestly I expected to take a step forward here at Imola but it didn’t go as we’d hoped. We’ve made a series of changes over the weekend but they haven’t brought the desired results. I had problems with grip at the rear of the bike in both races and it was difficult to change direction. I’m disappointed and sorry for the team that has worked so hard again this weekend. We definitely have a lot of work to do during the upcoming tests in order to understand how to improve…”
Ayrton Badovini: “Up until yesterday everything was going really well but today temperatures were a lot higher and so there was less grip, not a lot of traction. The first race wasn’t bad but I lost too much time at the start unfortunately. We made some small changes for race two but the track was even hotter and it was even more difficult. I’m not happy with today’s results because I really thought I could do better but in general I can say that I’ve made a small step up with my bike this weekend. I want to thank all the fans who came here to support us today. They can be sure that we’ll continue to work hard in testing over the coming days.”

Ottavo e decimo posto per Badovini ed il Team SBK Ducati Alstare nelle gare SBK di oggi a Imola
Imola (Italia), domenica 30 giugno 2013: purtroppo, dopo un inizio di weekend positivo, oggi e’ stato un giorno piuttosto difficile per il Team SBK Ducati Alstare e per i piloti Ayrton Badovini e Carlos Checa sul circuito di Imola; Badovini ha concluso le gare di oggi pomeriggio in ottava e decima posizione, mentre Checa ha concluso undicesimo e dodicesimo.
Gara 1 – Ayrton, ottavo in griglia, ha perso qualche posizione nei primi giri ed al quinto passaggio era dodicesimo, seguito dal suo compagno di squadra Carlos, tredicesimo. Il pilota italiano ha superato Haslam nel corso del giro successivo e quindi Baz, per trovarsi nono a meta’ della gara. I suoi giri piu’ veloci sono arrivati nella seconda meta’della gara, ma purtroppo, a causa di un gap di circa sei secondi che si era venuto a creare tra lui ed il gruppo che lo precedeva, Ayrton, pur recuperando secondi preziosi, non ha potuto migliorare di molto la sua posizione, chiudendo la manche all’ottavo posto. Carlos, soffrendo per problemi di grip, ha corso una seconda fase di gara in modo solitario, mantenendo la sua posizione, per poi tagliare il traguardo in undicesima posizione finale.
Gara 2 – Come nella prima manche, sull’asfalto ancora piu’ caldo rispetto alla mattina (54˚C), Ayrton ha perso terreno nella prima fase, posizionandosi undicesimo al quinto passaggio. Per tutta la seconda meta’ della gara il portacolori del team Ducati Alstare dava la caccia a Cluzel, riuscendo a superarlo proprio nell’ultima curva, per transitare sotto la bandiera a scacchi in decima posizione. Carlos, tredicesimo in griglia, ha mantenuto quella posizione e recuperato un posto nei primi giri ma, da dodicesimo, non e’ riuscito a raggiungere i piloti subito davanti a lui, a causa della mancanza di trazione. Checa ha quindi concluso in dodicesima posizione finale.
Carlos Checa: “Questo weekend e’ stato duro, onestamente mi aspettavo di fare un passo avanti qui a Imola pero’ purtroppo non e’ andata come avevo previsto. Abbiamo fatto diversi cambiamenti durante il weekend ma non ci hanno portato i risultati sperati. Ho avuto problemi di grip al posteriore in entrambe le manche ed incontravo alcune difficoltà nei cambi di direzione. Sono deluso e mi dispiace per il team che ha lavorato molto anche in questo weekend. Ci sara’ da lavorare molto nei test dei prossimi giorni per capire come riuscire a migliorare.
Ayrton Badovini: “Fino a ieri siamo andati molto bene, ma oggi le temperature si sono alzate e quindi c’era carenza di grip e meno trazione. La prima manche non è stata male, ma purtroppo ho perso troppo tempo all’inizio. Abbiamo fatto dei piccoli cambiamenti per la seconda gara ma l’asfalto era piu’ caldo e di conseguenza e’ diventato tutto piu’ difficile. Non sono per niente contento dei risultati delle due gare perche’ pensavo di poter fare meglio oggi, ma in generale posso dire di aver fatto un piccolo passo avanti con la moto in questo weekend. Voglio ringraziare tutti I tifosi che sono venuti qui a sostenerci. Continueremo col nostro lavoro durante i test dei prossimi giorni…”

Octava y décima posición para Badovini y el Team SBK Ducati Alstare en las carreras de hoy en Imola
Imola (Italia), domingo 30 de junio 2013: tras un inicio positivo del fin de semana, hoy ha sido un día difícil para el Team SBK Ducati Alstare y para sus pilotos Ayrton Badovini y Carlos Checa en el circuito de Imola; Badovini ha acabado las carreras de hoy en la octava y la décima posición, mientras que Checa ha sido décimo primero y décimo segundo.
Primera carrera – Ayrton, octavo en la parrilla,ha perdido algunas posiciones en las primeras vueltas y en la quinta era décimo segundo seguido de su compañero de equipo Checa, décimo tercero. El piloto italiano ha superado a Haslam y a Baz para encontrarse noveno a mitad de carrera. Su vuelta rápida ha llegado en la segunda parte de la carrera pero desgraciadamente con la diferencia de seis segundos entre el y el grupo que lo precedía, Ayrton no ha podido mejorar demasiado su posición, acabando la carrera en la octava posición. Carlos ha sufrido problemas de grip y ha corrido la segunda parte de la carrera en solitario manteniendo su posición, para cruzar la meta en la décimo primera posición final.
Segunda carrera. Como en la primera manga, con el asfalto todavía más caliente con respecto a la mañana (54º), Ayrton ha perdido terreno en la primera fase, posicionándose décimo primero en la quinta vuelta. En la segunda parte de la carrera ha superado a Cluzel en la última curva, para cruzar la meta en la décima posición. Carlos, décimo tercero en la parrilla, ha mantenido su posición y recuperado un puesto en la primera vuelta pero luego no ha conseguido superar al piloto que tenía delante suyo a causa de la falta de tracción. Checa ha concluido en la décimo segunda posición final.
Carlos Checa: “Este fin de semana ha sido muy duro. Honestamente me esperaba dar un paso adelante aquí en Imola pero desgraciadamente no ha ido según lo previsto. Hemos hecho diferentes cambios durante el fin de semana pero no nos han dado los resultados esperados. He tenido problemas de grip y algunas dificultades en los cambios de dirección. Estoy desilusionado y me sabe mal por el equipo que ha trabajado mucho durante el fin de semana . Tendremos que trabajar muy duro en los test de los próximos días para mejorar la situación.”
Ayrton Badovini: “Hasta ayer estábamos andando bien, pero hoy la temperatura ha subido y por tanto hemos tenido menos grip y menos tracción. La `primera carrera no ha estado mal, pero he perdido demasiado tiempo al inicio. Hemos hecho pequeños cambios para la segunda carrera pero el asfalto estaba a una temperatura más elevada y todo ha sido más difícil. No estoy para nada contento del resultado de las dos carreras porque pensaba que podría hacerlo mejor, pero en general puedo decir que hemos dado un pequeño paso adelante con la moto este fin de semana. Quiero agradecer a toso los “tifosi” que han venido a apoyarnos. Continuaremos con nuestro trabajo durante los test de los próximos días."

Einmal Platz acht, einmal Platz zehn für Ayrton Badovini vom Team SBK Ducati Alstare in Imola
Imola/Italien, Sonntag, 30. Juni 2013 – Nach einem guten Start ins Wochenende erlebten das Team SBK Ducati Alstare und seine Fahrer Ayrton Badovini sowie Carlos Checa heute im italienischen Imola einen schwierigen Renntag. Badovini erreichte in den beiden Rennen die Platzierungen acht und zehn, Checa wurde Elfter und Zwölfter.
Rennen 1: Badovini, der von Platz acht aus gestartet war, verlor in den ersten Runden einige Positionen und lag nach dem fünften Umlauf auf Platz zwölf, gefolgt von Carlos Checa an 13. Stelle. Der Italiener Badovini konnte während der folgenden Runden Leon Haslam überholen, später auch Loris Baz, und sich zur Mitte des Rennens auf den neunten Platz vorschieben. Seine schnellste Runde fuhr er in der zweiten Rennhälfte. Den Sechs-Sekunden-Abstand, der sich bis dahin zwischen ihm und der direkt vor ihm fahrenden Gruppe aufgetan hatte, machte es Badovini jedoch unmöglich, sich weiter zu verbessern. Im Ziel wurde er deshalb als Achter abgewinkt. Checa, der bereits vom Start an Probleme mit dem Grip seiner Reifen hatte, fuhr die meiste Zeit über ein einsames Rennen und kam schließlich als Elfter über die Ziellinie.
Rennen 2: Auf etwas heißerer Piste als im ersten Lauf verlor Badovini wie im ersten Rennen während der frühen Phase etwas Boden, nach Runde fünf wurde er auf Platz elf notiert. Die gesamte zweite Rennhälfte über verfolgte er Jules Cluzel, um den Franzosen schließlich in der allerletzten Kurve des Rennens zu überholen und Platz zehn zu erobern. Checa, der als 13. Ins Rennen gegangen war, konnte kurz nach dem Start um einen Platz nach vorne fahren, die Konkurrenten vor ihm aber nicht mehr einholen und klagte später über Traktionsprobleme am Hinterrad. Der Spanier wurde Zwölfter.
Carlos Checa:
„Das war ein hartes Wochenende. Ich habe hier in Imola wirklich einen Schritt nach vorne erwartet, aber die Dinge haben sich nicht so entwickelt, wie wir das gehofft hatten. Wir haben über das Wochenende eine Menge Änderungen am Motorrad vorgenommen, aber sie haben nicht die gewünschten Ergebnisse gebracht. Ich habe in beiden Rennen Probleme mit dem Grip am Hinterrad gehabt, die Richtungswechsel waren schwierig. Ich bin enttäuscht, es tut mir leid für das Team, das dieses Wochenende wieder so hart gearbeitet hat. Bei den jetzt anstehenden Testfahrten haben wir sehr viel Arbeit vor uns, um zu verstehen, wie wir uns verbessern können.“
Ayrton Badovini:
„Bis gestern lief alles prima, doch heute waren die Temperaturen deutlich höher als an den Trainingstagen, deshalb hatten wir Grip eingebüßt und wenig Traktion. Das erste Rennen war gar nicht so schlecht, aber leider habe ich am Start viel Zeit verloren. Vor dem zweiten Rennen änderten wir einige Einstellungen am Motorrad, aber die Strecke war noch heißer geworden und alles hat sich noch schwieriger gestaltet. Mit den Ergebnissen bin ich nicht zufrieden, ich habe wirklich daran geglaubt, dass ich besser sein könnte. Immerhin haben wir mit dem Motorrad einen kleinen Schritt vorwärts gemacht. Ich möchte aber allen Fans danken, die heute nach Imola gekommen sind, um, uns zu unterstützen. Sie dürfen sicher sein, dass wir bei den Tests in den nächsten Tagen sehr hart arbeiten werden.“
