Xavier Simeon was born on August 31st, 1989 in Auderghem, near Brussels. From day one, his life was meant to revolve around motorcycles, mainly due to the fact that his father, Michel Simeon, was a former GP and endurance rider. Consequently, it's almost as if Xavier was born with a set of handlebars glued to his hands. In fact, it only took Xavier four years to hop on a bike for the first time and by the time he was nine, he was already taking part in the Belgian Pocket Bike Championship, finishing second in his first race and ending vice-champion in his first season. By then, Xavier's abilities were already higher than average and it only took him two more years to win the title.
But Xavier's ambitions knew no boundaries and soon the young rider was trying his luck in Italy, one of the homes of motor racing. There, he took part in the extremely competitive Italian Pocket Bike Championship and ended up a very honourable 10th. After a two-year long experience in Italy, Xavier decided to go for a new career challenge by taking part in the Spanish Aprilia 70 cc Cup. Thanks to the warm welcome and the legendary friendliness of the Spaniards, he immediately felt at home and his riding style improved faster than he had thought possible. Xavier also rode in the 125 cc class, and from there, he decided to make an important move into the four-stroke category on a Superstock 600. Xavier won a race in his first season and Francis Batta, Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra's main man, aware of the huge potential of Xavier, decided to sign him at the end of the season.
That was the start of a wonderful adventure between the young Belgian and Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra. Ever since he was a kid, he and his father had been trying to join the Alleur-based team because it represents the “crème de la crème” for any Belgian rider. For Xavier, the dream became reality. But the dream had only begun: after two successful seasons in the Superstock 600 class with Team Alstare, Xavier finally won his first European title at the end of a nerve-wrecking season which saw him engage in an epic power-struggle with Ducati rider Nicola Canepa.
In 2007, Xavier continued his impressive learning curve in the much more competitive and hard-fought Superstock 1000 European Championship. He took three podiums (including one superb win) to finish fourth in the championship. It goes without saying that Xavier has a bright future ahead. After his debut in the Superstock 1000 series last year, he will once again be facing tough competition from some of Europe's most promising riders. But Xavier, described by his team boss as 'utterly fearless', has already shown that he is not afraid of highly competitive environments... In fact, he just loves them! After last year, his goal for 2008 is nothing less then the title itself!
