STM
Clutch manufacturer STM launched its business in 1981. At the onset, the Italian manufacturer concentrated its work on robotics component and measuring instruments. But only during the 90's did the company enter the two-wheeled world when it started developing special parts for motorcycles. This intuitive decision, and major change in attitude, helped define STM’s identity more precisely and marked the first great change in the history of the company.
Some time later, the prototype for the slipper clutch was created. This innovative invention was about to change the world of motorcycling and insure the worldwide success of STM. The slipper clutch was soon used on Ducati motorcycles in races and contributed to the winning of two Superbike world titles.
Acknowledging the success in the World Superbike Championship, STM successfully transferred the technology tested on the racetrack onto production motorcycles and soon became the market leader. 2003 marked a new milestone in the history of STM: the Evoluzione technology was, for the first time, applied to wet clutch systems on Japanese motorcycles, thereby widely broadening its possibilities of use.
At this point the STM involvement in racing intensified considerably and was crowned with extraordinary successes in the various classes. In Superbike, the successful cooperation with Team Suzuki Alstare allowed the tuning of two innovative products, uniting perfection of operation together with total reliability.
STM offers its customers a broad range of products, constantly being developed, thereby satisfying the requirements of a growing number of riders. It is on the world's fastest circuits that the collaboration between STM and Team Suzuki Alstare works wonders.
